Huntsville man crashes into Sheriff’s cruiser

A Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputy escaped injury during a Friday evening (5/19/23)incident that resulted in heavy damage to his cruiser and the arrest of a Huntsville man.  

At 8:13 p.m. Hardin County Central Dispatch received a report of a vehicle being operated recklessly near Ohio Route 67 and County Road115. The initial call was followed by numerous additional reports of the west bound vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic, driving on the wrong side of the road, leaving the roadway, and driving in reverse.  The vehicle continued westbound to the Jumbo area, where witnesses said the driver exited it then returned to it and drove off headed east bound.  

May 15 S.A.F.E.R. Alert

On Monday, May 15, the Ada Police Department issued the following S.A.F.E.R. Alert on Facebook:

Ada, recently we have taken a few reports where outbuildings have had items stolen from them. Just as a reminder please try to keep all buildings secured and if possible, well lit.

As always please do not hesitate to report suspicious activity to the Ada Police Department.

Unclaimed bicycles to be auctioned off by Ada Police Dept.

The Ada Police Department has announced that it has approximately 36 unclaimed bicycles that will be auctioned off unless they are claimed by May 16.

If you would like to file a claim, please contact the APD office and provide a description of the bicycle.

Ada-Liberty EMS seeks EMT candidates

From the Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance Board, 530 N Gilbert St, Ada:

We are looking for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to join our staff.

We are a 911 Agency only and respond to both municipal and rural areas involving Hardin and Hancock counties. Within these areas we have industry, two urgent care facilities and a college university, rural and state highways including US 30.

Peace Officer Memorial Service scheduled as part of Police Week observances

In recognition of National Police Week, May 14-20, communities across the United States will honor and remember those law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the family members, friends and fellow officers they left behind.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office will host a memorial service on Monday, May 15, National Peace Officers Memorial Day, to pay special recognition of law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. 

The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the east side (Main St) of the Hardin County Courthouse. Law Enforcement Officers from all agencies throughout the county have been invited to participate. 

The Kenton High School Top 20 will present the National Anthem; Judge Steve Christopher of the Hardin County Common Pleas Court will offer remarks. The roll call of Hardin County’s Fallen Officers will be read. 

The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend. 

Buggy-semi crash reported south of Kenton

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash that injured 2 people Sunday afternoon. 

Hardin County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at 2:43 p.m. reporting the crash at Ohio Route 31 and Twp. Rd. 265, Kenton, where a horse-drawn buggy entered the path of a south-bound semi truck, ejecting the occupants of the buggy.
