Ada Police Department has opening for full-time officer

The Ada Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer and has made the folloing announcement:

The Ada Police Department serves a community of nearly 6,000 residents and prides itself on being named one of Ohio's and the Nation's Safest Towns.

Our agency enjoys the support of those we serve, and through our village Mayor and Council, enjoy a newly remodeled police facility, modern cruisers, and equipment.

Our officers enjoy 10-hour shifts with 3, 4-day weekends in a row.

2022 Ada Police officer accomplishments recognized with certificates, awards

On Monday, January 9, 2023, the Ada Police Department presented awards to officers for accomplishments from 2022. The awards recognized exceptional service including life-saving actions and risking threat to their own lives, as well as community and administrative activities.

January 8 house fire on Christopher Circle

UPDATED 2:50 P.M. JANUARY 10

At approximately 5:35 p.m. on January 8 safety services responded to a 1st alarm structure fire at 932 Christopher Circle, Ada. No injuries to occupants were reported. Family pets may have perished.

Preliminary details from Ada-Liberty Township Fire Chief Jay Epley indicate that the home, owned by Jeffrey Wold, sustained extensive damage.

Chief Epley later told the Icon that a neighbor called 911 and notified the residents that an outdoor grill in the back yard was on fire and that the house was on fire.

Suspect sought in December 31 Arlington bank robbery

The Hancock County Sheriff's Office issued the following statement and photograph regarding their search for a suspect in an Arlington, Ohio robbery:

On Saturday 12-31-2022 at 0952 hrs. the Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded to a robbery at the Premier Bank, 112 E. Liberty Street, Arlington, Ohio.

UPDATE: Highway Patrol announces capture of dangerous escapee

UPDATE: January 2, 2023

Last night at 11:34 p.m., Jacob Davidson was taken into custody near Chapmanville, West Virginia. 

COLUMBUS–The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently seeking the public’s assistance in locating a dangerous escapee.

On December 29, Jacob D. Davidson escaped from Twin Valley Behavioral Heath Hospital located at 2200 West Broad Street in Columbus. Davidson, 38, is described as a white male with blue eyes, 5’11” tall and 210 pounds. He was last seen with brown hair and a full beard.

Winter storm Elliott dishes up second day of extreme weather

UPDATED AT 11:00 P.M. DECEMBER 24

On the second day of winter storm Elliott, being out of doors continues to be dangerous due to extreme cold, wind, snow and ice.

For the Ada area, the National Weather Service predicts "Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 9. Wind chill values as low as -25. Windy, with a west wind 25 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%." A wind chill advisory is in effect until noon on December 25.
