Ada Icon's spring intern has returned home - to St. Petersburg, Russia. Elizaveta Dyachuk, a junior business management major, compiled several 15-minute interviews with ONU international students for the Icon.
She is now taking classes online from a distance of 7 hours from Ada.
Here's her update:
"Everything changed so quickly, I barely had time to sleep. But I'm doing well now, I'm back in St. Petersburg. My family is happy to see me, they are good also.
"I'm staying at my apartment as well, completing my ONU online studies. All universities and schools are closed in Russia, so my sister is staying with me, doing her assignments online.
Hardin County Leadership is proceeding online, according to Kathy Oliver, in charge of the program.
Hardin Leadership develops positive leaders within Hardin County by providing personal enrichment, expanding community networks, and recognizing future leaders.
She reports that the April 2 session is a virtual session and the May session will likely be modified also.
The leadership group meets monthly now through November.
"My primary goal is to finish my education, and then I hope I’ll find something to my heart that makes me happy"

Pardon our recent distracation. The Icon has a couple 15-minute interviews with ONU international students that we've not had a chance to post. Our intern, Liza Dyachuk, from Russia, conducted these in early March. We hope these students are able to continue to communicate with their family and we hope everyone is well.

Ada’s involvement in World War II is a project underway this spring by Leland Crouse, Ada historian. And, he is looking for contributions from Icon viewers.
“I am doing research of Ada and World War II,” he told the Icon.
The project covers many things involving Ada during this period of the 20th century. Here’s some of the areas that Crouse’s research involves:
• What the community was asked to do
• War effort boards and committees formed during this period
• Rationing
• Who entered the armed forces and where did they serve
• Any other stories, memorabilia or information residents are will to share
