Jacob Bassitt, an Ada High School senior, is the October Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative Ada student of the month.

Jacob is active in several school organizations including:
• Varsity Singers
• Ada HS swim team
• Ada HS Drama Club
• Ada HS student council vice-president
• Ada HS pep band

ONU alum Bob Peterson helps Pixar receive its first Emmy Award

Ohio Northern 1983 mechanical engineering alum Bob Peterson helped Pixar received its first Emmy Award on Night 4 of the remote Creative Arts awards last week.

The award was for the animated short-form series “Forky Asks a Question,” specifically, the episode asking, What Is Love?”

Accepting the award in pre-taped speeches were Peterson and producer Mark Nielsen. 

Peterson is a voice actor known for voicing Roz, Dug, and Mr. Ray. He is an animator, screenwriter, storyboard supervisor, director and voice actor. Hired at Pixar 1994 as an animator for commercials, he later became an animator on Toy Story.

Unique-to-Ada art work now available as a copy

Les Thede's "Sunburst over Northern" wooden sculptures now at Gallery for the Arts

A unique-to-Ada art work is now available as a copy, thanks to the wood crafting of Dr. Les Thede.

“Sunburst over Northern,” a wooden sculpture, was originally dedicated on March 22, 2019, in the atrium of the ONU Dicke College of Business Administration.

He created the wooden sculpture as a memorial to his wife, Diane. She retired as an administrative assistant at ONU after working there 26 years. She was a member of the ONU Women’s Book Club and Bridge Club. She died May 1, 2018.

The retired ONU professor has created smaller versions of the art work, which are now available at Gallery for the Arts, 115 S. Main St., Ada.

Dean of students sings prior to Sept. 17 Browns-Bengals game

Before the National Football League’s Thursday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns even kicked off, it was clear to all that the “Battle of Ohio” went to Northern.

Dr. Adriane Thompson Bradshaw, ONU’s vice president for student affairs and dean of students, sang the Star Spangled Banner before the nationally broadcast game and delivered a magnificent rendition. For ONU Bengals fans it was undoubtedly the high point of the evening, as their team fell to their in-state rival 35-30, but for that moment, even the most die-hard fans were united.

Robert Alexander, ONU professor of political science and founding director of the Institute for Civics and Public Policy, was featured by CNN on Sept. 21 in the cable network’s coverage of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death.

Alexander along with David B. Cohen, professor of political science at the University of Akron, co-authored an opinion piece titled “GOP push to fill RBG’s seat could backfire spectacularly."

Hilary Dalton is the winner of the "Where is it in Ada contest." She correctly identified this mystery photo as part of the mural in the Ada Post Office. 

Her entry was drawn from all correct entries in the contest that ended on Friday.
