Kiwanis memorial tree dedication Aug. 6 in Ada park

President Myrna McCurdy called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at noon on Tuesday July 30th in McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered Jon Umphress.

The wedding anniversary of Peter and Jeanie Previte (8/02/1975) was noted.

Tom Kier was congratulated on being appointed Interim Dean of the Raabe College of Pharmacy at ONU.

In business:
-Members were updated on club finances.

-The Memorial Tree Dedication is set for Wednesday August 6th 6:00 p.m. at War Memorial Park. The family of Von Spellman (honoree) is planning on attending. There will be no Tuesday noon meeting.

Eight Hardin 4-H youth in state fair rabbit skillathon

Students are photographed left to right, bottom to top.

119 youth from all over Ohio participated in the Ohio State Fair rabbit contests. Of those 119, eight were from Hardin County youth. The competitions included Rabbit Skillathon, Breed Identification, Judging and Showmanship. In the Judging contest, youth judged four rabbits of four different breeds against the American Rabbit Breeders Association Standard of Perfection and placed each according to compliance with the standard.

It's early August - that means it's band camp week

A rite of summer - Ada High School band camp. It's going on right now and the band is tuning up for football games, parades and competitions.

Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club will have petting zoo at F&M Picnic

For our 4-H meeting on July 28, first we practiced showmanship. Raina England did a 4-H project on volleyball. Levi England did his on cautions of welding. Justin England did his on types of catfish in Ohio. 

Livestock judging is on August 7th from 9 to 5 at Hardin county fairgrounds, 4-h swim party is august 5th. August 10th we will be having a petting zoo for the community at the F&M picnic.

Our next meeting will be at Hazelton’s to practice showmanship at 6:00p.m August 25.

Several Hootenannies 4-H Club qualify for state fair

The last meeting of the Hootenannies 4-H Club was held at the farm of Advisor Grant Mizek.  It was opened by president Laura Spradlin.  Megan Williams asked for members' favorite zoo animal for roll call.

The Hardin Co Triathlon was discussed.  Members competing will be Landyn Hijma, Seth Davis and Preston Brien.

The member birthdays of Harold Friesner, July 21; John Berg, July 25; and Bob McCurdy, July 29 were noted.

It was noted that recent Chicken BBQ was a very successful project.
