Here's a crazy Ada photo story

Check out the photos and see for yourself

By Monty Siekerman
People must think that the people of Ada are crazy.

The Ada Icon caught many of our local residents and ONU students and employees dressed in unusual ways during the year.

Take a gander at these 2017 Ada Icon photos and judge for yourself. Have aliens landed and taken up residency in the Village of Ada?

One might think so. We begin with Joel Luecke as Mr. Banana, but he's helping with the Colleges Against Cancer at Relay for Life...or so he said. Check out some of the other outlandish Ada folks and see if you recognize them (maybe you are pictured).

We caught Ada smiling!

Nearly 40 smiling Ada faces in our photo collection

By Monty Siekerman

The Ada Icon caught the smiles of many people in 2017.

Here are just a few of them. We had to quit reviewing photos because there were just too many smiles... can there be too many smiles?

These photos extend from January to early March. The Ada Icon cam- era caught local residents and ONU students happy doing many things: serving others, winning at sports, having fun, even working.

Are you or your friends pictured?

Check out these pictures in the attachment  below to see who you recognize.

Santa and his elf visit Kiwanis and Rotary Christmas luncheon

It was also Kiwanis' annual holiday auction

It was all Christmas for the Ada Kiwanis and Rotary on Tuesday.

Here's an Ada Christmas elf - John Berg at the Ada Kiwanis Christmas luncheon and auction held at Community Health Professionals. The meeting included Ada Rotary members as guests.

Along with the elf, in attendance was Bruce “Santa Claus” Neely.”

Many Christmas-related items were awarded to successful bidders in the club’s annual auction, according to Jon Umphress.

Kiwanis will take the holiday season off. The next meeting is at noon, Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the Dean's Heritage Room, McIntosh Center. Rhett Grant, Director of the Ada Public Library, will present the club program.

How to care for a poinsettia

The Hardin County extension office advises:

Poinsettias are extremely beautiful flowers. Proper care of poinsettias after purchase include watering pots thoroughly (to saturation) on a regular basis allowing the potting media surface to dry out between waterings.

Never let the pot stand in water.  Keep temperatures between 60 and 70 degrees. Place plants near a sunny window, but out of direct sunlight and away from hot and cold drafts.
