January 31 is the deadline to purchase dog tags. After that date, tags will cost twice as much. Tags may be purchased at the Liberty National Bank in Ada or the dog shelter in Kenton.
Meet Midnight. Midnight is a 1 year old female lab mix. She weighs 35 pounds. Can you give Midnight her forever home?
To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.
Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.
Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.
The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.

Thank you, Kevin, for supplying the Ada Icon with birds-eye views of the community taken while soaring in your magnificent flying machines, the small planes you loved to fly whenever the weather permitted.
If one heard a buzzing overhead and looked up to see what looked like a lawnmower with wings, one can be rest assured that the pilot was Kevin Mierzejewski.
Kevin died Friday. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday at Hanson-Neely in Ada. Click here for his obituary.

Andrew Rorabaugh explains his Working with Wind science project Thursday evening during the annual 7th grade Science Fair held in the Ada Schools cafeteria.
Wind turbines are currently giving the Ada area an important economic boost. Thirty turbines have recently begun turning their wind-driven propellers just east of Ada, a $100 million project.
Another $300 million installation of 80 turbines is slated to be built on land between Alger and McGuffey. Farmers will receive sizable land rental payments where turbines are built, and taxing districts will have bigger coffers.
Ada High School sophomores will visit Apollo Career Center's 411Blast, Friday, Jan. 26.
Approximately 700 sophomores in Apollo Career Center’s 11-member district will also participate.
This day exposes students to possibilities and paths available for their career and/or college success. Students choose two programs of interest and then spend one-half day visiting those labs, meeting the instructors and participating in fun, interactive demos and activities.
