Your invitation to audition for a Noteworthy choir

Vicki Mills accepting new singers for second season

Vicki Mills announced that the Noteworthy Community Choir begins its second season this year.

"Area singers are invited to audition throughout March for a spot in both its children’s choirs and inter-generational choir,” she said.

Four different choirs will form and meet from April 16 to July 6. Those groups are:
• Treble makers – non-auditioned choir, ages 6-10
• Noteworthy Voices – ages 8-18
• Noteworthy Sounds – ages 7-11+
• Expressions – ages 13 to 83+ begins March 25

The Icon asked Don Traxler to consider an almost impossible Valentine's Day assignment.

"Don, compile a list of married couples in the Ada community who have reached the golden anniversary level and beyond."

He rose to the task and provided a list of couples who fit that description. They follow:

He spent much of that 4th grade school year in 1963 writing her name on his gray notebook. The cover was filled and the ciphers spilled onto the pages within. Every inch proclaimed one name, the name of the girl he adored.

Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist Club update

Celebration of Women event in March at ONU

The Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist Club has tickets for the Celebration of Women event planned in March at Ohio Northern University.

The event is Thursday, March 21, in the ONU McIntosh Ballroom. Celebration of Women is held every year during women history month.  

The Soroptimist Club will present three awards at the event: the Virginia Wagner Award, the Ruby Award and the Violet Richardson Award.  

 

Greetings from Ada and ONU, to Gov. DeWine

Ohio Governor and ONU alum Michael DeWine, addressed the Ohio News Media Association's annual convention on Thursday. Shane Tilton, assistant professor of multimedia journalism at ONU, attended the convention and sent greetings to the governor from Ada.

What a shot for Cade!

This halfcourt shot is worth a $500 scholarship

Over 90 Ada High School students participated in the first-ever AHS "Pack The Pound" Night during Thursday night's girls' basketball game.

Cade Mullins hit a halfcourt shot to win a $500 scholarship sponsored by Ryan Yoakum State Farm Insurance.

In addition, 10 students won Under Armour "Pack The Pound" T-shirts, sponsored by Lima Sporting Goods.

Here's Cade receiving his big check from State Farm. The next "Pack The Pound" Night is Friday, Feb. 22, when Ada boy's entertain Bluffton in an  NWC basketball game.
