“Law is not enough” topic of talk

Legal scholar Neil S. Siegel will discuss “Law is not enough” during a talk at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the law school. David W. Ichel professor of law and professor of political science at Duke Law School. The talk, which is part of the school’s Carhart Program in Legal Ethics, is free and open to the public.

 

Siegel will argue that legal restraints on presidents and members of Congress are insufficient by themselves to sustain the legitimacy of the American constitutional project.

ONU Symphony to present ‘American Essence’

The Ohio Northern University Symphony will present “American Essence” on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Music Director Travis Jürgens will conduct the program, which will feature works by American composers. The program also will include an Ohio premiere of a piece,a guest pianist, and the ONU Dance Company.

 

The concert opens with Copland’s “Billy the Kid Suite,” taken from the ballet about the American Old West outlaw and moments in his life. The orchestra will then perform music from Disney films, in collaboration with the ONU dance program, choreographed by Kathryn Braunwarth.

ONU students heads national organization

Ohio Northern University student Colin Lombardi of Milan, Ohio, has been sworn in as president of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA).

 

The national organization represents more than 4,600 members and 92 chapters nationally, and its mission is to serve undeserved and promote minority student pharmacists. Lombardi, a fourth-year pharmacy major.

 

Beyond his academic pursuits, Lombardi is a former kicker on the ONU football team and a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
