Brass quintet performs tonight

 

The 339th Army Band’s “Missouri Brass” quintet will perform at 7 p.m. tonight (Nov. 28) in Presser Hall. The concert is free and open to the public. 

The Missouri Brass will perform works by Viktor Ewald, Kevin McKee, Anthony DeLorenzo, and others.

The quintet has been performing a series of concerts in Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana in October and November.

Ohio Northern University presents student art and design exhibition

The Ohio Northern University Department of Art and Design will hold its Student Showcase Exhibition in the Elzay Gallery of Art from Nov. 26 — Dec. 7. A reception and awards presentation will be held Thurs., Dec. 6 from 4–6 p.m.

The exhibition features work created over the past several months by undergraduate students at all levels, most of whom are focusing on a degree in the visual arts and others majoring in a range of other disciplines who are exploring the arts through a minor.

The Ohio Northern art and design student showcase exhibition will be on view Monday, Nov. 26–Friday, Dec. 7 in the Elzay Gallery of Art.

Young alumni receive Robinson award

Ohio Northern University alumni Elizabeth Ekole and Brendan Thompson are the latest recipients of the William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award from their alma mater. The award was established by the ONU Alumni Association to honor individuals who have graduated from the University in the last 15 years and who demonstrate passion and loyalty toward their profession, community and alma mater.

 

Coach named for new ONU varsity sport

Troy Chiefari ONU's first sports coach

Troy Chiefari has been named the first head esports head coach at Ohio Northern University.

ONU plans to begin competition in League of Legends and Overwatch in the fall of 2019.

Chiefari comes to Ohio Northern with a tremendous amount of esports success as both a player and a coach.

He is a former professional player and has coached at both the professional and collegiate levels.

Chiefari played professionally Halo: CE from 2005-07.

He also served as the head coach of Tabula Rasa, which was a League of Legends semi-pro team from 2015-17 and was the competitive manager for the Esports Club at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
