2022 Klondikes revealed

With the last day of final exams on May 13 and commencement ceremonies on May 14, Ohio Northern University is wrapping up Spring semester 2022. Two seniors have been revealed as having worn the big white suit.

Being the Ohio Northern University mascot, Klondike, is such a closely guarded secret that not even the portrayer’s closest friends and family know the truth. A student Klondike is only allowed to reveal themselves upon graduating, so with Commencement right around the corner, we thought we’d help these students step out of the suit one final time and reveal themselves to some of their closest friends.

Love can build a bridge

Naomi Judd contracted Hepatitis C as a nurse

By Karen Kier, Pharmacist on behalf of the ONU HealthWise team

The Country Song of the Year Grammy was awarded to Love Can Build a Bridge performed by the Judds in 1992. The song was released in 1990 as a farewell after Naomi Judd was diagnosed with a hepatitis C infection. Naomi attended California’s College of Marin to study nursing and became a registered nurse. She worked in the intensive care unit at a Tennessee hospital when she contracted hepatitis C from a needlestick when taking care of a patient.  Healthcare professionals are at risk of contracting hepatitis from a needlestick.
