ONU finishes second at LTU Innovation Encounter

The Ohio Northern University Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) team captured second place at the fourth annual Innovation Encounter competition at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich., on Oct. 18-19.

 ONU finished second among seven other schools at the event. In addition to ONU, the schools that competed were Lawrence Tech, Gonzaga University, Widener University, St. Louis University, Villanova University, Kettering University, and the University of Evansville.

Ailey II dancers on Freed Center state Oct. 27-28

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present  “Ailey II” on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 5 p.m. A master class will be offered in the Biggs Theatre on Monday, Oct 28, at 10 a.m. to anyone who purchased a ticket. 

Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers. Founded in 1974, the company embodies Alvin Ailey’s pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training and community programs for all people.

Phillip Caris receives Outstanding Service Award from ONU

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration honored Phillip D. Caris with an Outstanding Service Award on Saturday, Oct. 18.

The award, given annually at Homecoming, honors individuals who have provided sustained and outstanding service to, and whose contributions have positively impacted, the College of Business Administration and Ohio Northern. This is the fifth year that Outstanding Service Awards have been presented by the college.

National Chemistry Week means lots of chemistry demonstrations Oct. 23

Ohio Northern University will present the second annual American Chemical Society and Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Demos Extravaganza in the Mathile Center for the Natural Science room 247 on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Members of Gamma Sigma Epsilon will be conducting a number of demonstrations that include shooting the caps off water bottles and crushing pop cans. Other presentations will be lighting a dollar bill without burning it and experimenting with liquid nitrogen.

Zombie Prom and lots more on Freed Center stage in next few weeks

Ohio Northern rolls out the orange carpet for homecoming

Ohio Northern University will celebrate Homecoming 2013 from Oct. 18-20. All alumni, friends, family, faculty and students are welcome to attend.

Homecoming weekend will kick off on Friday with continuing education sessions in the Pettit College of Law at 1 p.m. and the T.J. Smull College of Engineering at 6:30 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., four former athletes and supporters will be honored during the ONU Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet.
