ONU prof, student, and alum co-author article in criminal justice journal

Tristin Kilgallon, assistant professor of criminal justice in Ohio Northern University’s Department of Psychology, Sociology and Criminal Justice, Jordan Turner, a senior criminal justice major from Casstown, Ohio, and Enver Krivaca, a 2012 ONU graduate of the LLM program, have co-authored an article published in 2014 spring edition of Criminal Justice Praxis, the journal of the Ohio Council of Criminal Justice Education.

ONU pharmacists named 2014 Student Chapter of the Year

The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Student Chapter at Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy was recognized with a number of honors, including being named the 2014 Student Chapter of the Year, at the 116th NCPA Annual Convention and Trade Exposition in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 19.

The award criteria included commitment to community service, recruiting new members, promoting independent community pharmacy and advocating legislative action. The first runner-up was Auburn University, and the University of Texas at Austin was the second runner-up.

ONU public relations society earns Star Chapter Award

Ohio Northern University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter was awarded the Star Chapter Award for the sixth consecutive year at the PRSSA National Conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 10-14.

Join the "Company" Saturday or Sunday at The Freed Center

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “Company” at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23-25 and matinee performances at 2 p.m. Oct. 25-26.

The clashing sounds and pulsing rhythms of New York City underscore this landmark “concept” show, considered by many to have inaugurated the modern era of musical theatre. “Company” follows anti-hero bachelor Robert as he makes his way through a series of encounters with April (the stewardess), Kathy (the girl who’s going to marry someone else), Marta (the peculiar one), as well as his married friends.

What has white fur, a black nose and walks on four legs? At Ohio Northern University, the answer to that question is usually “polar bear.” But if you ask it around campus lately, don’t be surprised if you hear “Viking” in response more often than not.

No, the newest member of the ONU family isn't a polar bear. He’s a 7-month-old golden retriever puppy named Viking. And, like the rest of his ONU brethren, he’s special.

Northern Winds perform Russian music Oct. 26 at Freed Center

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents an evening of Russian music featuring the Ohio Northern University Wind Orchestra on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 4:30 p.m.

The Northern Winds, under the direction of Thomas A. Hunt, will perform a concert of Russian music for winds and percussion. The program includes works by Gliere, Prokofiev, Kozhevnikov and Shostakovich. The soloist for the Gliere horn concerto is ONU senior Brandon Guillen, a mathematical statistics major from Lima, Ohio.
