ACE Day provides beautification opportunity

Ohio Northern University is currently registering organizations, businesses and residents for its annual Ada Community Engagement (ACE) Day to be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9:00 a.m.-noon.

A partnership with the village of Ada, the ACE Day program provides opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to not only engage with the community but also contribute to the village's beautification. Students will take part in one-hour shifts (9:30-10:30 a.m) or two-hour shifts (9:30-11:30 a.m.).

ONU Law graduate awarded national prize for Fourth Amendment analysis

Justin Marks, JD ’23, said he was “astonished” when he received the call that he was the winner of this year’s New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) Student Note Competition, noting, “The recognition came at the end of law school and was like the cherry on top.” He was awarded a $10,000 prize to be split with the Law Review student organization at Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law.

8th annual Patriotic Pops brings LSO to Ohio Northern

The Lima Symphony Orchestra’s free, public Patriotic Pops concert will be held at Ohio Northern University at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 2. The event will take place on the sculpture mall east of McIntosh Center between Presser and Weber halls.

This family-friendly concert will feature several Independence Day-themed musical selections. The LSO is under the direction of Maestro Andrew Crust.

ONU student-athletes named Academic All-OAC for 2023

Seventy-one Ohio Northern student-athletes were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in the 10 spring sports for 2023.

Women's track and field and cross country led all teams with 14 honorees. Men's track and field had 12 award winners, women's lacrosse had nine, and men's lacrosse had eight.

The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.50.

Ohio Northern University earns ‘Voter Friendly Campus’ designation

National organizations are recognizing Ohio Northern University’s efforts to encourage students to vote.

Led by Institute for Civic and Public Policy’s (ICAPP) campus voting initiatives, the work has resulted in ONU’s designation as a Voter Friendly Campus, a fourth annual program led by national nonpartisan organizations Campus Vote Project (CVP) and NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. ICAPP student Fellows, led by institute director and political science professor Robert Alexander, Ph.D., worked with organizers to set goals, submit a statement of interest, form a coalition, draft an action plan.

2023 ONU commencement ceremonies for undergraduates, MSA, law and pharmacy

Ohio Northern University’s Commencement Weekend ’23, May 20-21, celebrated its many outstanding graduates. Three students were selected to speak at each of the ceremonies, Other exceptional seniors are also highlighted here.
