ONU instrumental ensembles perform Nov. 9

The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents an instrumental ensembles concert in the Snyder Recital Hall in the Presser Building on Monday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature several instrumental ensembles in a wide variety of music. To open the program in a spirited fashion, Dale Laukhuf, low brass instructor at ONU, will present the ONU Brass Ensemble performing two selections of American brass music.

ONU to hold sixth annual Artists Against Hunger luncheon Nov. 14

The Ohio Northern University Department of Art and Design will hold its sixth annual Artists Against Hunger luncheon in the Wilson Art Center on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m.

The Artists Against Hunger luncheon offers the community an opportunity to give back in exchange for a lunch and a handcrafted ceramic bowl made by faculty, alumni and students from Ohio Northern University. The bowls will be filled with one of a variety of soups, including minestrone, chicken noodle, butternut squash and chili.

Ohio Northern University presents The Kingsmen Quartet on Nov. 7

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents The Kingsmen Quartet on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

Director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency speaks at ONU

Craig Butler, director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will discuss the agency’s role in protecting the public and the environment in Ohio Northern University’s Dicke Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.

Butler also will discuss the contrasting roles between federal and state agencies. The presentation will occur in tandem with an environmental law class taught by Dr. Russ Decker, ONU lecturer of political science.

125 years later...the ONU marching band plays on

ONU Marching Band field commander Ryan Briley attempted to make history by playing “The Longest Note” in front of Heterick Memorial Library on Tuesday. There's still time to join us this week as the Star of Northwest Ohio commemorates 125 years of accomplishment.

For 125 years, the Ohio Northern University Marching Band contributed to the Northern campus and the Ada community.

When students J.B. McArthur and S.H. Myers led the first marching band in 1890, it is doubtful that either considered the legacy they were leaving.

ONU garners fifth in concrete solutions competition

The Ohio Northern University Department of Technological Studies construction management team finished fifth in the Concrete Solutions Competition at the Associated Schools of Construction Great Lakes Region 3 annual conference held in Downers Grove, Ill., from Oct. 14-16.

ONU competed against 10 other universities from across the country in the national open event at the conference. In addition to Region 3 schools, ONU competed against teams from Cal-Poly, Sacramento State, University of Southern California and Arizona State.
