University pharmacy students recognized for their research

Ohio Northern University students Emily Wells, a fourth-year pharmacy major from New Carlisle, Ohio, and Olivia Dinsmore, a third-year pharmacy major from South Lyons, Mich., were recognized by their peers for their research presentation at the Student Research Conference hosted by Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 24

High school, undergraduate and graduate students who participated in the Student Research Conference voted to put Wells and Dinsmore in a five-way tie as runner-up for the Student Choice Award. Sigma Xi’s District of Columbia Chapter sponsors this award.

University Singers, Chamber Singers concert in First United Methodist Church

The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” featuring the ONU University Singers and the ONU Chamber Singers, at the First United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The University Singers, directed by Dr. Ben Ayling, will perform a varied selection of pieces, including works by Michael Praetorius, Howard Helvey, Arvo Pärt, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Eric Whitacre and Moses Hogan. Additionally, the choir will perform along with special guest Ben Ayettey, a dancer, drummer and visiting Fulbright Scholar from Africa.

University public relations program re-accredited for CEPR designation from the PRSA

The Ohio Northern University public relations program has been re-accredited for Certified for Education in Public Relations (CEPR) designation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

PRSA recognized Ohio Northern’s accomplishment at the PRSA 2015 International Conference in Atlanta on Nov. 7. Dr. Alisa Agozzino, APR, assistant professor of public relations, accepted on behalf of ONU.

Look what Artists Against Hunger can achieve with "small change"

400 bowls x $10 = $4,000.

That's the amount raised Saturday at an Artists Against Hunger luncheon held at the Wilson Art Building.

Ceramic bowls were created by ONU students, faculty, and staff and Ada students. Even those who attend the Child Development Center had a part in it.

For $10, a purchaser received a unique bowl of their choosing and could fill it as many times as they wished from an array of various handmade soups kept warm in 24 crock pots. There was pizza for the anti-soup crowd.

Public Relations Student Society chapter recognized at national conference

Ohio Northern University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter received individual and chapter awards at the annual national PRSSA Conference in Atlanta from Nov. 6-10.

Ohio Northern’s PRSSA chapter was awarded the Star Chapter Award and is one of only two schools to receive the award since its inception in 2009. The award was created to recognize PRSSA chapters that have outstanding programming and relationship-building opportunities for students.

Electrical engineering student awarded IEEE scholarship

Ohio Northern University student Dutch Malott, a senior electrical engineering major from Newark, Ohio, has been awarded an undergraduate engineering scholarship through the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power & Energy Society (PES) Scholarship Plus Initiative.

Malott was one of 210 PES engineering scholarship recipients to be selected from the 540 individuals who applied. These undergraduate students are majoring in electrical engineering, are high achievers with strong GPAs with distinctive extracurricular commitments, and are committed to exploring the power and energy field.
