Department of Music presents men’s and women’s fall concert

The Ohio Northern University Men’s and Women’s Choruses will perform their fall concert in the Snyder Recital Hall of Presser Hall on Friday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

The ONU Men’s Chorus, directed by Dr. Ben Ayling, will perform a varied selection of pieces, including “Loch Lomond,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Mary Had a Baby” and the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch tune “Johnnie Schmoker.”

Raabe College of Pharmacy to hold professional commitment ceremony

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy will conduct its annual Professional Commitment Ceremony in the ONU Sports Center on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m.

Hanley Wheeler, senior vice president of field operations for the West Division of CVS/pharmacy, will be the keynote speaker at the event, which marks the transition from the students’ first three years of ONU pharmacy education to their final three professional years.

Musical theatre class performance Nov. 14

The ONU musical theatre class fall capstone performance will be held in Lima on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults for the program which will begin at 8 p.m. at The Met, 306 N. Main, Lima.

Ohio Northern University Healthwise Outreach Program to assist with health fair

The Ohio Northern University Healthwise Outreach Program, in conjunction with the Hardin County YMCA, will conduct a health fair at the Kenton YMCA facility on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Utilizing the ONU mobile rural preventive health service vehicle, ONU pharmacy students and staff will be on hand to provide glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings.

Amy Fanous, director of the ONU Healthwise mobile rural preventive health service vehicle, will be there to provide health-related information and referrals and to arrange follow-up care as needed.

Ohio Northern University to present ‘The ONU Holiday Spectacular’

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the 21th annual “ONU Holiday Spectacular” from Thursday, Nov. 19, to Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. There will be a matinee performance on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m.

In addition, there will be performances at the Civic and Convention Center in Lima, Ohio, on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m.

Ohio Northern University recognizes Veterans Day with ceremony

Ohio Northern University will celebrate the contributions of American service members with a ceremony on Veterans Day at the Lehr Statue at the front of the campus on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.     

John Phillip Lomax, ONU professor of history, will be the keynote speaker at the event. Lomax, who has taught history at ONU since 1988, served 12 years as an enlisted member of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He will reflect on the ways that military service sets apart those who serve from their fellow citizens. In addition, he will explain how military service is a core characteristic of American citizenship.
