Dicke College of Business Administration honors three

The Dicke College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University honored three individuals with Pinnacle Awards at a banquet held March 11.

This prestigious award, which honors individuals who have made the highest commitment to the business college, was given to Larry F. Boord, a 1971 ONU graduate; Pam Hershberger, a 1987 ONU graduate; and James F. Fenton Jr., the outgoing dean of the Dicke College of Business Administration.

Hershberger, who graduated with high distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting and finance, is a certified public accountant and is licensed in both Ohio and Michigan.

University to recognize academic achievement at Honors Day

Ohio Northern University celebrates its annual Honors Day program on Saturday, April 23, from 8:15 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

This year’s Honors Day continues the rich tradition of ONU’s colleges and departments recognizing students and faculty members for scholarly achievement and service to the University community. More than 40 undergraduate academic departments and honor societies will present awards and induct new members.

In a prelude to commencement, an Honors Day Convocation, which includes ceremonial elements such as an academic procession, inspirational messages and celebratory music, begins at 11 a.m. in the University’s Sports Center.

On April 6 118 ONU students from 43 campus organizations came together to write more than 3,000 thank-you notes to this year’s Founder’s Day Challenge  donors.

Ohio Northern University’s Founder’s Day Challenge is a virtual day of giving that encourages university alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students and friends to come together to support the university.

The challenge is for 500 donors to give to ONU on Founder's Day. To make things more interesting, a group of challenge leaders have given $25,000 to ONU in support of the Founder's Day Challenge.

ONU student receives Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Practice Award

Ohio Northern University student William “Blake” Hays, a sixth-year pharmacy major from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been awarded the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Practice Award for his dedication to the public. He will formally receive the award at the University’s Honors Day on April 23, 2016.

This marks the second consecutive year that an Ohio Northern pharmacy student has received this award, which recognizes pharmacy students who have demonstrated a commitment to public health and public health practice and have who gone outside the classroom to develop and bring care to patients in their community.

Earth Week comes to ONU April 17-22

Ohio Northern University will celebrate Earth Week with activities on campus and in the community from April 17-22.

Beginning on Sunday, April 17, volunteers from ONU Student Recycles will clean up a section of state Route 81 from Township Road 55 to Country Road 75 in Hardin County as part of Adopt-A-Highway.

Also beginning Sunday at 1 p.m., Ada Elementary students in kindergarten through third grade will display Earth Week artwork in McIntosh Center. The display will be open through Friday.

University presents instrumental ensembles concert April 10

The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents an instrumental ensembles concert in the Snyder Recital Hall in the Presser Building on Sunday, April 10, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature several instrumental ensembles in a wide variety of music. To open the program, Dale Laukhuf, low brass instructor at ONU, will present the ONU Brass Ensemble performing excerpts from Elijah, composed by Felix Mendelssohn.
