Defensive effort key to ONU's first win of season

The Ohio Northern football team got a tremendous defensive effort and held on a 16-10 victory at Otterbein Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 1-2 overall and are 1-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Cardinals fall to 1-2, 1-1.

Senior defensive tackle Scott Rapps (Bay Village Bay) was in the OU backfield all day, finishing with a team-high nine tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and two huge fumble recoveries for ONU.

Oct. 14 deadline for Hardin Ag Hall of Fame nominees

Applications are being accepted for the 2016 Hardin County Agriculture Hall of Fame through the end of business on Oct. 14, according to Mark Badertscher, OSU extension educator.

Nominees must have made their major contribution to agriculture primarily as a result of being born, growing up, living in, or working in Hardin County, Ohio.

Outstanding agriculturalists may be nominated by individuals or organizations. Nomination forms are available at the Hardin County OSU Extension office or on the Hardin County OSU Extension website at hardin.osu.edu.

Homecoming Week at Ada HS!

Wear your PJs to school Monday; bonfire Wednesday; parade Friday

Ada High School students launched a weeklong-plus celebration of its 2016 homecoming with a Friday afternoon pep rally.

The official homecoming week is Sept. 25 to Oct. 1. Here’s a list of events planned.

Over 100 buttons hand-sewn on this headboard

Dan Garver of Fine Touch Furniture and Upholstery displays a king size diamond tufted handcrafted headboard, recently upholstered by the Ada firm.

Over 100 buttons are in this headboard. Each button was hand sewn. Fine Touch Furniture and Upholstery is located at 153 N. Johnson St.
