Ohio Northern University professor of communication arts emeritus, Professor Nils Riess has been awarded the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana from the Republic of Estonia.
The Republic of Estonia bestows as gratitude and recognition various state decorations on persons whose activities have maintained and reinforced the independent Estonian state.
Professor Riess has been chosen as a recipient of this highly prestigious award in recognition for the contributions he has made for the republic.

There's more Ada school cheerleaders than you might imagine. The high school and junior high cheerleaders had practices with girls in grades kindergarten through 4th grade this winter. All girls performed everything that they learned on Feb. 11 during halftime of the high school basketball game, according to Bridgette Jones, cheerleading coach. Here's a photo. Glenda L. Conley, age 72, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 6:26 am at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
She was born on February 3, 1945 in Whitaker, Kentucky to Johnnie and Mary (Blair) Marshall. Her father Johnnie Marshall and Mother Mary VanHoose preceded her in death. On August 31, 1962 Glenda married Tribue Conley and he died on March 31, 1983.
Glenda was a dental assistant for Dr. Shambarger's office of Ada for 19 years, she retired in 2001. She attended the Free Will Baptist Church, McGuffey.

ADA - The perimeter-sniping Arcadia girls basketball club rode two big runs to defeat host Ada 68-34 Tuesday night in a non-conference makeup battle.
The purple and gold fell to 7-14 after their fifth loss in a row, while the Lady Redskins improved to 14-7 with the victory.
Ada starting senior guards Alyssa Vore and Haley Wyss played their final home contests as Bulldogs. Wyss scored a game-high 18 points despite a sore right knee that limited her playing time.
Arcadia shot well from the perimeter to spearhead runs of 16-3 and 17-0 in each half and win convincingly.

Ka Yee Christina Lee, Ph.D., professor of chemistry and senior associate vice president for research at the University of Chicago, will discuss “The science of breathing: Wrinkle-to-fold transitions in long surfactants and other elastic sheet” at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the Dicke Hall Forum at Ohio Northern.
Her talk is part of the Kritzler Lectureship in Chemistry at ONU and is sponsored by the Donald J. Bettinger Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The talk is free and open to the public.
