Conservation Tillage Conference expected to draw 900 people

More than 900 people are expected for the annual Conservation Tillage Conference to be held in McIntosh Center March 7-8. There will be 60 presenters and many agribusiness exhibitors on hand to discuss new ideas and technologies.
Here are some questions that will be answered:
* How to improve soil health.
* How to produce corn in the most profitable and environmentally safe way.
* How to fit cover crops into your operation.
* How to apply manure to make the most efficient use of nutrients.

DELPHOS - Ada senior guard Haley Wyss was named first team All-Northwest Conference in girls basketball by the league coaches in voting conducted recently at Delphos.
Wyss led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring (14.5 ppg), assists, free throws and three-point field goals. Coming on strong in the second half of the campaign, she topped Ada in scoring in 14 of their 23 games, including the last six in a row.
Wyss also topped Ada in scoring in six of their eight NWC games, with a high of 24 vs. Lincolnview. In conference play, she averaged 13 points per game. Her overall season-high of 26 points came Feb. 14 against Fostoria.

The Board of Trustees of the Ada Public Library would like to welcome Meri Skilliter as their newest member.
Skilliter replaced Dr. Suzanne Darmer as Superintendent of Ada Exempted Village Schools, upon Darmer's retirement, and thus takes her spot on the Ada Public Library Board of Trustees.

The No. 6-ranked Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team is set to compete at the 2017 OAC championships hosted by Baldwin Wallace. The meet will feature all 10 teams from across the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Polar Bears have posted two top-3 finishes at the OAC championships in the last two seasons, including a second place finish in 2016.
The top eight competitors in each event will be scored. Field events will begin on Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm, as men's and women's pole vault, shot put, long jump, 3,000-meter run and distance medley relay's will all be final after Friday.

ONU senior Devon Allen (Lima/Senior), sophomore Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) and senior Joey Hurless (Van Wert) were all named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's basketball for 2016-17 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.
Allen was named First Team All-OAC, Bruns was named to the Second Team and Hurless was an Honorable Mention All-Conference honoree.
Allen led the Polar Bears in scoring this season with a 15.4 ppg average and leads the OAC with 90 made 3-pointers and started 23 of 26 games at shooting guard
First-ever recorded jazz by Original Dixieland Jazz Band

100 years to the very day!
The Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the Centennial Dixieland Jass Band ensemble in a 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, performance.
The Centennial Dixieland Jass Band (CDJB) ensemble was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the very first recorded jazz by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band (ODJB) on Feb. 26, 1917, in New York City.
The ODJB was a collective of five musicians from New Orleans, La., led by the famous cornet player Nick LaRocca.
The Centennial band is led by Dr. David Kosmyna, ONU associate professor of music.
