Harry A. Heise was a former mayor of LaFayette

Worked at Superior Coach for 29 years and 18 years as Allen East transportation supervisor

Harry A. Heise, 85, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at 6:22 a.m. at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1935, in Athens, Michigan, to the later Edgar and Pearl (Jones) Heise. On Aug. 18, 1962, Harry married Dianna Cordes of Alpena, Michigan, and she survives in LaFayette.

Joe Rose was a 1938 graduate of Alger High School

Retired farmer celebrated his 100th birthday in May

Joe Dwight Rose, Sr., 100, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at 3:52 a.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.  

He was born May 19, 1920 in Alger, Ohio, to the late Arnett and Eula (Houchin) Rose. Joe first married Mary Louise Losey on Nov. 24, 1940, and she died on Nov. 8, 1986. Joe then married Dorothy J. Rose on Aug. 19, 1988 and she died Jan. 11, 2018.  

Joe was a farmer.  He was a member of the Lima Baptist Temple before moving to Florida. He was a 1938 graduate of Alger High School.

Peg Jordan was a retired cook at Upper Scioto Valley school

Peggy J. “Peg” Jordan, 84, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 at 3:44 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1936, in Hancock County, Ohio to the late Neal C. and Cleola “June” (Lanning) Duffman. On Aug. 21, 1954, Peg married Joe Jordan and he preceded her in death on April 16, 2017.

Peg retired from Upper Scioto Valley Schools, where she worked as a cook. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior.  Peg loved camping, her annual Frankenmuth shopping trips and Casino trips with her family and friends.

Linda Mundy was a supervisor at Associated Plastics

Linda L. Mundy, 66, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at 10:02 a.m. at her residence in Alger.

She was born on April 8, 1954, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Alonzo and Joy Lee (Rowe) Shepherd. On May 11, 1990, she married Rick A. Mundy and he survives in Alger.

Linda worked for Associated Plastics of Ada as a supervisor.  She was a member of the Believers Church of New Beginnings. 

Richard Werling was retired from Ford, Lima

 Richard W. Werling, Sr., 93, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at 11:51 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System. 

He was born on Aug. 26, 1927, in Lima to the late Edwin and Grace (Jackson) Werling.  On Aug.11, 1949, Richard married Gladys LaPoint and she passed away on March 4, 2013.

Richard retired after 30 years from Ford Motor Company, Lima.  He was also a farmer.

Gerald A. “Jerry” Dearth was head of ONU security for 20 years

Worked for Hardin County Sheriff's office for more than 27 years

Gerald A. “Jerry” Dearth, 84, passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at 2:08 p.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on May 27, 1936 in Ada to Jasper Earl and Aezelda B. (Robnolte) Dearth and they preceded him in death. On Dec. 20, 1975, he married Jean Anne VanAtta and she survives in Ada.  

Jerry retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada, where he was head of security for 20 years. He also worked for the Hardin County Sherriff’s office for over 27 years. He previously worked for Hanson-Neely Funeral Home for 8 years.
