Becky Lease was a retired administrative assistant at ONU Sports Center

Private family services will be held at a later date

Becky S. Lease, 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 6:46 p.m. at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 29, 1947, in Marion County, Ohio, to the late Donald and Leona (Downs) Clapsaddle. On Sept. 29, 1966, Becky married Thomas G. Lease and he survives in Ada.

Becky is also survived by her two sons: Eric (Devin) Lease of Marysville and Kyle (Sarah) Lease of Hilliard; and a sister, Anita (Earl) Woodruff of Pataskala.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Clapsaddle.

 Becky retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada where she was an Administrative Assistant in the Sports Center.

Marilyn Harpster 1936 - 2021

 Marilyn Harpster, 84, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 3:50 p.m. at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 22, 1936, in Elida, Ohio, to the late Abram and Corrine Brenneman.  Marilyn was married to Norman Harpster for over 55 years and he survives in Roundhead. 

Also surviving are her daughters: Kathleen Montanez of Clark, N.J., Jane (Scott Hummel) Davis of Westerville and Peggy Harpster of Roundhead; three grandchildren: Ed Jennings, Angela Valante and Maria Johnson; a sister, Doris Shaffer of Kenton; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Juan Montanez.

Arlene Hopkins was a Hardin County 911 dispatcher and USV bus driver

Served on Alger EMS for 18 years

Arlene U. Hopkins, 90, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 11:47 p.m. at MediLodge of Yale in Yale, Michigan.

She was born in Fulton, New York on July 1, 1930 to the late Howard Leslie and Hilda U. (Mitchell) VanWie.  Arlene married Robert B. Weyer and they divorced.  She then married Paul J. Hopkins and they too divorced. 

Arlene was a 911 Dispatcher for Hardin County retiring in 2003.  She also was a school bus driver for the Upper Scioto Schools, retiring in 1993.  Arlene was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ. She was a volunteer for the Alger EMS for 18 years.           

Elliott Prater retired from Meritor Rockwell in Kenton

 Elliott Prater, Jr., 78, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 11:37 p.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1943, in Amba, (Floyd County) Kentucky, to the late Elliott and Josephine Mae (Tackett) Prater, Sr.  On Oct. 20, 1964, Elliott first married Barbara Lowery, she preceded him in death on Sept. 18, 2019. 

On Dec. 27, 1985, he married the love of his life Wilma (Adkins) Spradlin and she survives in Alger.  

Margery Ruth Jordan was retired from United Technologies

Margery Ruth (Canaan) Jordan, 92, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 12:25 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada. 

She was born on June 19, 1928, in McGuffey, Ohio, to the late John and Merle (Lewis) Canaan.  On Dec. 31, 1946, Margery married the late Richard (Dick) Jordan.  

Margery is survived by her two daughters: Linda Jordan-Allen of Kenton and Kim (Jeff) Fitzgerald of Alger; a daughter-in-law, Deanna Jordan of Alger; nine grandchildren: Carl Allen, Lori Johnson, Michelle Taylor, Blake Cole, Dylan Cole, Shane Jordan, Joslyn Snyder, Jake Sanders and Jackie Wireman; 17 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Ron Hackworth was retired from Whirlpool Corp.

He was a U.S. army veteran

Ronald E. “Ron” Hackworth, 78, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021, at 8:03 p.m. at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born on May 14, 1942, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to the late Maynard and Rushie (Wright) Hackworth. On Oct. 1, 1966, Ron married Mary F. Smith who survives in Ada.

Also surviving is a son, Todd (Nicole) Hackworth of Dunkirk; two daughters: Michelle (Keith) Vossberg of Tampa, Florida, and Erin Swick of Ada; four grandchildren: Casey, Morgan, Gabbi and Garrett; and a sister, Donna Guyton of Ada.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler Hackworth; and a brother, Spunk Hackworth.
