Ada native Russell Dearth was a former mayor of LaFayette

Russell E. Dearth, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 8:40 p.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on March 15, 1934, in Ada,  to the late Jasper Earl and Aezelda B. (Robnolte) Dearth.  On June 6, 1959, Russell married Karen J. Amstutz and she survives in LaFayette.

Kathy Lacher 1947 - 2021

Kathlene “Kathy” Lacher, 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 3:47 AM at her residence in Harrod, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1947, in Lima, Ohio, to Ralph and Beatrice (Hunnaman) Watkins. Her father, Ralph preceded her in death. Kathy was raised by her mother and step-father, Jonah Adkins. Her mother, Beatrice Adkins survives in Ada, and her step-father preceded her in death.  

On August 1, 2000, Kathy married the love of her life, Jerome “Jerry” Lacher and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2007. 

Ruby Jane Coburn Hattery Inman was retired from Copeland

Ruby Jane Coburn Hattery Inman, 79, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 6:34 a.m. at the Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Florida.

She was born on Feb. 21, 1942, in Greenup, Kentucky, to the late Bunyon Cleveland and Lulia (DeRossett) Coburn. In 1961 Ruby married Frederick W. Hattery and he preceded her in death in 1976. She then married Elzie W. Inman in 1977 and he preceded her in death in 2009.

Ruby was a homemaker. She retired from Copeland Refrigeration in Sidney. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bradford, Ohio, and liked to listen to gospel and country music. 

Floyd Crowe retired from Rockwell International

 Floyd E. Crowe, Jr., 80 passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 11:23 p.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1940, in Ada, to the late Floyd C. and Edna (Alter) Crowe. On June 18, 1961, Floyd married Marleen K. Oates, his wife of 60 years,  and she survives in Dunkirk.

Floyd retired after working 33 years from Rockwell International, Kenton, he also farmed. He was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, Kenton. 

Terry Swaney owned Swaney Oldsmobile/Nissan, Lima

On Wednesday, June 3, 2021, Terry Lee Swaney, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 74. 

Terry was born on Aug. 22, 1946, in Harrod, to the late Donald and Donna Swaney. He was a United States Air Force (USAF) and Vietnam veteran. He was a brilliant and successful businessman and owner of Terry Swaney Oldsmobile/ Nissan in Lima.  

Philip Pinks owned the Crazy Horse Reception Hall for over 20 years

Philip E. Pinks, 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 3:40 p.m. at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1941, in Royalton, Kentucky, to the late Dewey and Gracie (Allen) Pinks. On Oct. 6, 1963, Philip married Janet Duffy and she survives in Dunkirk.

Philip retired from Clark Equipment. He owned and operated the Crazy Horse Reception Hall for over 20 years. He was a graduate of McGuffey High School.  Philip enjoyed auctions and was a licensed auctioneer, he also liked fishing, camping, garage sales, playing guitar and spending time at Norris Lake in Tennessee.
