James “Andy” Cook worked for Honda Transmission

James Andrew “Andy” Cook, age 51, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

Andy was born on April 11, 1970 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Chester Cook, III and Janet Bulson. His father, Chester Cook, III survives in Orlando, Florida and his mother and step-father; Janet and Eugene Patterson survive in Jackson, Michigan.                   

Also surviving are his two children: Sydney Cook and Nicolas Cook both of Dayton; his fiancé, Misty Vore of Ridgeway; and her children: Cory Miller and Alyssa Vore; two brothers: Mark Aaron (Jane) Cook of Cowpens, SC and Paul Adam (Amy) Cook of Orlando, FL; and a special niece, Zakiyah.

Lewis R. "Randy" Frank was a U.S. Marine

Lewis R. "Randy" Frank, age 71, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his home, totally surrounded by his family. He was born in Lima, Ohio to the late Russell and Esther (Boyd) Frank. Randy married his high school sweetheart, Mary Stashwick, and they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in January of this year.

He was a devoted father to Elizabeth Williams and Edward (Akendita) Frank. He was proud of his six grandsons: Trace (Haylee) Williams, Gabriel (Jasmine) Williams, Max Williams and Andrew, Dylan and Tucker Frank. He also had a special granddaughter, Brianna Courtney. His nieces, Michelle Gooding and Kelly Hade lived with him for ten years.

Gloria Rock was a homemaker

Gloria J. Rock, age 76, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, with her husband by her side.

She was born on April 30, 1945 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Matthew Joseph “Richard” and Thelma (Lovely) Dyer.  On May 18, 1963 Gloria married the love of her life, Robert E. Rock, Sr. and he survives in Alger.

Gloria was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. Also surviving are her two daughters: Ronda (John) Wyomic of Ada and Roberta (Frank) Karfit; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Dyer of Michigan; and three sisters: Rachel Boutwell of Kenton, Rebekka (Frank) Grizzle of Florida and Wonnie Dyer of Findlay.

Peggy Essinger lived on Catawba Island

Peggy Jane Marthana Ann (Richardson) Essinger, age 86, formerly of Catawaba Island, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at her home in Ada.

Mary F. Downs was a homemaker

Mary F. Downs, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 1:14 p.m. at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.

She was born on December 13, 1944 in Wolf Creek, Tennessee to the late Porter Crockett and Betty (Bryant) Jarnagin. 

Mary was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Ohio Deaf Association.

She is survived by her daughter, Mechel (David) Rowe of Alger; two grandchildren: Shelby (Cody) Henderson and Dustin (Katelynn Shelhamer) Rowe; one great grandson, Mack Henderson; and a brother, Henry (Brenda) Jarnagin of Morristown, TN.

Mary was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Halle Grace Henderson; and a brother, Lee Roy Jarnagin.

Opal Mae Nothdurft was born in Owenboro, Kentucky

Opal Mae Nothdurft, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 10:28 p.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born on March 21, 1933 in Owenboro, Kentucky to the late Archie and Helen (Cambron) White.  Opal married Donald Paul Nothdurft on February 26, 1955 and he preceded her in September of 2014.

Opal always put God first in her life.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She was loved by many.
