Ellis L. Jenkins had worked for over 30 years at the Lima Ford plant

Ellis L. Jenkins, 77, died at 4:24 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his Ada residence.
He was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Boswell, Okla., to Curtis M. and Sylvia (Stafford) Jenkins, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 24, 2004, he married Doreen (Grant) Manley Burkholder, who survives in Ada.

Mr. Jenkins retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant in 2003 after over 30 years of service. 

Pauline Williams, Alger, was a member of the first 4-H Club in Hardin County

Pauline Williams, 88, died on Monday, Oct. 14,, 2013 at 2 a.m. at her residence in Alger, Ohio.

She was born on January 8, 1925 in Dunkirk, to Arlie and Esta (VanHouten) Romick and they preceded her in death. On April 15, 1951, she married Kent Williams and he died on July 22, 1997.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and she formerly worked as a clerk for Westinghouse Corporation of Lima. She was a member of the Harrod United Methodist Church, Harrod. She was a graduate of Dola High School class of 1943. She was a member of the Hardin County Star Lite Homemakers Club, Hepburn Hobby Club, the first 4-H Club of Hardin County and later she served as a 4-H advisor.

Minnie F. Ray, 1923-2013

Minnie F. Ray, age 90, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 9:10 a.m. at Kindred Hospital, Lima, Ohio.

She was born on March 3, 1923 in Greeneville, TN to James Orvil and Verdia (Wallace) Bryant who preceded her in death. She married Lark Howard and he died on June 21, 1967. She then married Morgan Ray on June 1, 1977 and he died on September 13, 1981.

Minnie was a homemaker and a member of the Alger Family Worship Center.

Virgil Yoakam worked 42 years on the railroad

Virgil E. Yoakam, age 88, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 6 a.m. at his Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kenton, Ohio.

He was born May 31, 1925, in Hardin County, Ohio to Earl and Ruth (Weber) Yoakam, they preceded him in death. He married Bernice Compton on December 11, 1960 and she died on December 13, 1998. He then married Barbara Rostofer in 1999 and she survives in the Forest, Ohio.

Virgil worked 42 years with the railroad as a Freight Agent for Con Rail Railroad. He retired as a Control Tower Operator.

Lee Reese trained Shetland Sheepdogs, winning competitions at national level

Lee Reese (formerly Emily Canterbury) died Oct. 7, 2013, at 2:04 AM at her residence. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 21, 1946 to Kathryn Reese Canterbury and John S. Canterbury, who preceded her in death.

She grew up in Northfield, Michigan, and graduated from Northville High School. She attended Albion College, where she graduated in 1968. She also attended Ohio Northern University to obtain her teaching certification and taught for one year in Michigan.

Albert "Bud" Garver was a WWII Navy veteran

Albert R. "Bud" Garver, age 86, died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 5:02 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

He was born on February 10, 1927 in Marion County, Ohio to Albert R. and Geneva (Hitchcock) Garver who preceded him in death. On May 21, 1945 he married Mae Ann Evans and she died on January 24, 2002. He later married Dorothy (Poe) Freund on January 4, 2006 and she survives in Ada.

Bud was a welder for Superior Coach of Lima and General Dynamics of Lima retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during WWII with the 301 NCB's.
