Services Saturday for Dr. Dale Wilhelm, former ONU vice president for academic affairs

Dr. Dale L. Wihelm, a former ONU faculty member, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at Riverside United Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

A memorial service was Saturday, April 16,  at Trinity United Methodist Church, Columbus.    

Dr. Wilhelm served as a professor of chemistry and as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at ONU until his retirement in 1991.  In 1993, he became faculty emeritus.

He is survived by his wife Norma, children Teresa and George, Laura, Hoyte and Terri, Kyle and Jennifer, 13 grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Arden E. “Stretch” Roberson, BSEd '49, H of F '75, a U.S. Navy Veteran, served in World War II from 1944-46 before graduating from Ohio Northern University in 1949 with a degree in health and physical education. He later earned a Master of Science in education from Kent State University.

G. Michael Collingsworth 1950-2016

G. Michael Collingsworth, 65, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 6:38 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima. 

He was born June 21, 1950 in Kenton, Ohio to Paris F. “Pat” and Berniece “Bea” (Prater) Collingsworth. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Alger. On Aug. 30, 1968 he married Brenda F. Bryant and she survives in Alger. 

Norma Jean Fry was retired from Upper Scioto Valley schools

 Norma Jean Fry, 84, died on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 3:20 p.m. at Heritage Legacy, Findlay.  

She was born on Nov. 13, 1931 in Kenton, Ohio, to Harry and Leona (Bailey) Hogue and they preceded her in death.  On April 15, 1949, she married Ray E. Fry and he died on March 28, 1983.
   
Norma Jean was a homemaker. She retired from Upper Scioto Valley Schools as a custodian and cafeteria worker and teacher’s aide. She also worked at Richland Manor Nursing Home as a nurse’'s aide. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, quilting, and cooking for her family.  She served for many years on the McGuffey Village Council. She loved to bowl and was on a bowling team for several years.

Dorothy OBrien was born in Ada

Dorothy L. O’Brien, 86, died on Wednesday, April 06, 2016, at Glenbrook Rehab & Nursing, Ft. Wayne, Ind.    

She was born on June 30, 1929 in Ada, Ohio, to Archy and Alice (Kuhn) Staley who preceded her in death. On April 17, 1954, she married Norman E. O’Brien who preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1992. 

Dorothy was a homemaker. 

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Steve) Post of New Haven, Ind.; and four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. 

Joe D. Allen worked at Clark Equipment for 28 years

Joe D. Allen, 86, died on Tuesday, April 05, 2016 at 11:45 a.m. at his residence in McGuffey.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1930, in McGuffey, Ohio, to Eric and Martha (Basore) Allen who preceded him in death. On Feb. 19, 1955 he married Rose Lamb and she died on May 23, 2005.

Joe was a flame cutter at Clark Equipment Company from 1953 to 1981.   He later worked at Trinity Enterprises in Lima, Ohio from 1981 to 1982.   Joe was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War.   Joe was a member of the Victory Chapel of Praise Rural Alger, Ohio.   He was a member of the AMVETS Post #1994 of Kenton and a member of the McGuffey Conservation Club.
