Dayton Howard was retired from Ford Motor, Lima

 Dayton Howard, 77, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 12:08 a.m. at the Cridersville Healthcare Center, Cridersville.

Dayton was born on Nov. 19, 1938 in McGuffey, Ohio, to Ira and Elizabeth “Ezza” (Allen) Howard who preceded him in death. He married Dolores A. Hattery on June 5, 1960, and she died on Dec. 22, 2015.

Dayton retired from Ford Motor Company of Lima. He attended the Lima Baptist Temple. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the 6th Infantry Unit from December of 1961 to December of 1963. He was a life member of the VFW Post.

Bill Lawrence worked for the Village of Ada for 30 years

William H. “Bill” Lawrence, 72, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 5:22 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

Bill was born on July 10, 1943 in Alger, Ohio, to William L. and Rose C. (Campbell) Lawrence. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Kenton. On Sept. 15, 1964, he married Linda L. Fleming and she survives in Ada.

Wanda Mullins was a football lacer at Wilson's Sporting Goods

Wanda Mullins, 68, died on Friday, June 17, 2016, at 8:17 p.m. at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.

She was born on May 4, 1948 in Kenton, Ohio to Ralph and Doris (Evans) Fry who preceded her in death.           

Wanda worked at Wilson Sporting Goods, where she worked as a football lacer. She was a graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School. Wanda liked to read and go to garage sales. Most of all Wanda loved her kids and grandchildren.

Wanda is survived by her children: Wayne Mullins of Erwin, Tenn., Mark (Debbie) Mullins of Ada, and Lisa Hemry of Ada; and six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Michael Rettig was a 1966 Ada HS graduate

Michael “Mike” Rettig, age 68, passed away early Friday morning on June 17, 2016, at Lima Memorial Health Systems, Lima.

Mike was born on Aug. 11, 1947 in Kenton, Ohio to Charles and Ruth (Grubaugh) Rettig who preceded him in death.  

Mike was married to Imogene Archer and their son is David. He was then married to Pelma Snyder and their children are Daniel and Sheri. He later married Shirley Phillips and she preceded him in death.

ONU grad was director of Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure

The cycling community lost a leader and friend Saturday morning when William J. Gordon pdied suddenly while biking with friends.

A Dublin resident, Bill was born Feb. 22, 1959 in Elyria, Ohio. He graduated from Huron High School in 1977, and from Ohio Northern University in 1981 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

The time of his death he was Events Director for Columbus Outdoor Pursuits leading bicycling activities including the Tour of the Scioto River Valley (TOSRV), the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure (GOBA), and the Columbus Fall Challenge (CFC).

Estill Williams 1934 - 2016

Estill L. Williams, 81, died on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 4:20 a.m. at the Lima Manor Nursing Home, Lima.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1934, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to Elmer and Leatha (Holbrook) Williams who preceded him in death. On June 3, 1952, he married Bobbie Jean Ramey and she survives in Lima.

Estill was a machinist at TeleDyne Ohio Steel for 28 years, he retired in 1990. He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Alger.
