How much corn, soybeans and wheat is planted around Ada?

As Hardin County farmers prepare for another spring planting, crop yields from the 2014 growing season have been released from the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service.  Although these crop production numbers are based on estimates, they are used for crop insurance and government reporting purposes.

Corn
According to a recently released report, 98,000 acres of corn were planted with 95,000 acres harvested in the county in 2014.  The county average yield was 167.9 bushels per acre, compared to 172.3 bushels per acre in 2013.

Here's Ada church Maundy Thursday schedules

Several Ada churches will have Maundy Thursday services at 7 p.m. They are:

• First Presbyterian Church of Ada, 200 S. Main
• First United Methodist Church, 301 N. Main
• County Line Church of the Brethren, 4227 N. Hardin Road
• St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 125 S. Johnson

Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday, commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. Depending on the nation, culture, or denomination the service could include washing of the feet, ringing of bells, a procession, and stripping the altar bare at the conclusion of the service in anticipation of Good Friday.

How do you mix several flavors into many buckets of popcorn?

You ask ONU mechanical engineering students to invent a process that will save time and money and results in less waste.

As a senior capstone project, four students took on the challenge last fall at the request of Pete Suter, the owner of Shirley's Popcorn in Bluffton.

They designed and built a system for measuring and dispensing the ingredients into small packages which are sealed for use on demand.
