November 1933 Mrs. Clara Warren, the first woman to hold a village office, was re-named Village Treasurer.

November 1933 Ada’s football team finished the football season “the undisputed champions of northwestern Ohio,” defeating Van Wert 19-0 and Defiance 18-0 in the last two games. On the Ada team were R. Clum, B. Neiswander, L. Anspach, H. Jamison, J. Corbett, W. Scott, B. Snyder, Z. Adam, J. Stambaugh, G. Botkin, C. Holman, E. Neiswander, and H. Florida.

Name these four Ada firemen

Leland Crouse has a question for Icon viewers. Can anyone name these four Ada-Liberty Township firemen? The vehicle resembles a 1947-era pick up. Viewers are welcome to send identification and possible year details to: [email protected]

They talked about this team for many years

The Ada High School 1919 football team was undefeated, but tied one game, their last one with Defiance.

The team that year was a powerhouse on defense, holding every opponent scoreless until that last game.

December 1936 the Ada council started the proceeding for a 14 year age limit on drivers in Ada. Nearly 100 licenses have been issued to minors by the highway patrol who passed the drivers test as young as 11 and twelve years of age.

Ada Civil War veterans

This is a photo that hung in the Ada American Legion Post for many years.  When the legion sold the building no one knew what the group was.

It is believed to be a photo of Ada Civil War veterans and some family members (Note the large picture of Abraham Lincoln).

The Civil War veterans group met at the Legion Hall in later years according to Post records.  The back of the photo is only marked “Old Soldiers”.

Maybe some Icon viewers will recognize their ancestors or the building in the background.
