The first one was at the 1988 F&M Picnic

Here’s a story about the 1988 Farmers and Merchant’s Picnic:

August 1988 a new event was added to the Farmers and Merchants picnic and a large, impatient crowd initially waited on the game called Bessie Bingo. 

As the hour approached for the release of Bessie, names were drawn from a bucket and spaces were assigned. Curious onlookers gathered as anxious ticket buyers located the empty space and wished for something in it.

Once upon a time in Ada

In 1988 boy scouts and cubs covered 17+ miles picking up litter

June 1988 - The Ada Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts covered more than 17 miles of Liberty Township roads picking up litter.

They collected 55 bags during the 91 man-hours of work, reported Robert Krofft.

Scouts involved in the activity were Brian Beckley, Brian Wilkerson, Mike Ring, Daryl Neff, David Benson, Donald Roby, Tom Lehman, Chad Hazelton, Travis Hazelton, Isaac Seagrave, Adam Vauvel, David Vaubel, Jacob Lehman, Daniel Rider, Eric Preston and Robby Logsdon.

This was ONU athletics...way back when

Did you ever watch a football game at this location in Ada? It's a post card view of the athletic field and gymnasium on the ONU campus. The Taft gym is no longer standing and the field now longer exists.
