Here is a photograph from Lindsley's Art Gallery, Ada, which states on the front "finest enamel finish." The subject is Fred Hahn and the photo was probably taken at his 16th birthday, which dates this photo close to 1892. The Hahn family lived in Ada, where his parents had a bakery.

A photographic joke

Bluffton pioneer photographer, Will A. Triplett, had an interesting sense of humor. This photo is a photographer's "set up." There are several items to check.

For example, the colt on the ground is playing dead, the boy in the chair holds the horse harness, but so does the dog - also sitting in a chair - behind the boy.

Here's a young Ada boy probably dressed for his first-ever photograph. This photo was taken by M.V. Gilbert "artistic photographs" Ada, Ohio, 1882. Sorry to say, the youth is not identified.
