Ada girls softball downed at Ridgemont

Playing at Ridgeway, the young Ada High School varsity softball team lost at Hardin County rival Ridgemont 7-3 in a non-league contest Friday evening, April 15.

The Lady Bulldog record dropped to 2-6 after the defeat. The Lady Gophers improved to 4-2 with the victory.

"We hit the ball hard a lot," said Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. "Their left fielder caught three or four line shots." 

The Bulldog girls jumped on top with a run in the top of the first inning. Freshman hurler Jenna Bassitt singled, and classmate Belah Price delivered a two-out RBI double to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0.

Karen Kier receives 2022 Pharmacist Public Relations Award

The Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) announced that Karen Kier, R.Ph., M.S., Ph.D. of Ada, Ohio, is the 2022 recipient of the Pharmacist Public Relations Award. This award, which recognizes a member pharmacist of the Ohio Pharmacists Association who has made major contributions to the public through continuous service to the community in public relations activities for the profession of pharmacy, was presented at the OPA 144th Annual Conference held April 1-3.

Right now, there is probably at least one person in your household that has a cough. Coughs are often associated with the common cold and there is little you can do, other than try to ease the symptoms. However, a lot of coughing, especially in babies under four months old, could be a sign of a serious illness.

Women's Golf 2nd of 5 teams at Adrian Spring Invitational

ONU freshman Amelia Burger (Centerville) finished as individual runner-up, leading the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a second place finish at the Adrian (Mich.) Spring Invitational on a windy Thursday, April 14 at the Hills of Lenawee Golf Course.

4-H Report: Boots and Buckles on April 11

Meeting was called to order by President Chloe Anderson. Club said the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. 

We had a guest speaker Gary Saylor, Auctioneer, who told us about going to auctioneer school and what it takes to be an auctioneer. He also gave us tips on how to be an auctioneer. He held a small auction for us with bidding numbers and fake money. The group had a great time and thanked him for coming and speaking with us. 

Next was roll call with answering “What is your favorite fast food restaurant?” 

Photo-story: AHS netters shut out by Bryan

After several rainouts, the Ada High School tennis team hosted its first home match of the season and lost 5-0 to a strong Bryan club on a windswept Thursday evening, April 14.

The Bulldog record dropped to 0-2 with the defeat. Bryan won all 10 sets played in the match.

Ada senior southpaw Dexter Woods fell at first singles, as did junior Brendan Jameson at second singles. Junior Amelia Alexander lost at third singles.

The Bulldog doubles tandem of Geddes Klingler and Isaac Williams went down to defeat, as did the other Ada duo of Nate Williams and Riley Ferguson.
