Photography Hike invitation for Saturday, April 1

FINDLAY- If you have a passion for photography or if you want to learn, come along on a hike with fellow photographers to capture the beauty of area parks through the lens of the camera. At this Findlay Hancock Park District event, participants will hike the trails taking photos of scenery, wildlife, plants, and anything else that would make an interesting subject. All skill levels and camera types are welcome.

ONU professor wins international award for nocturnal habitat protection work

Ohio Northern University civil and environmental engineering professor Bryan Boulanger's childhood fascination with the night sky during family camping trips out west led to crucial work years later in service to night sky preservation. Those efforts have resulted in his receiving the International Dark-Sky Association's 2022 Nocturnal Habitat Protection Award.

Municipal pool passes on sale April 1

Buy your Ada pool season passes before the pool opens on May 27 to save on a summer full of swimming and splashing. The early bird Ada Municipal Pool pass sale runs from April 1-May 27.

• Single Pass: $55.00

• Family Pass: $190.00 (2 adults, 3 children)

* Up to 4 additional family members may be added to the family pass at $15.00/per family member.

• Lap Punch Card: 10 laps for $10.00 must be purchased in advance will not be available after May 26, 2023.

Request for better student crossing on Main St.

At the March 21 meeting of the Ada council, a letter was read requesting improved safety for Ada Schools students crossing Main St. on the long stretch between Highland Ave. and CR 81-North Ave. A single house shaped sign with a two pedestrian figures currently serves the purpose of alerting drivers. Ada-Liberty Township Fire Department receives $10K fire equipment grant

Announcement paired with survey results of first responder health impacts in East Palestine

Fire Equipment Grants
Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of State Fire Marshal announced the recipients of the 2023 Fire Department Equipment Grants. These grants have been awarded to 154 fire departments in 70 counties throughout the state totaling nearly 1.4 million dollars for protective clothing, self-contained breathing apparatus, communications, and other life-saving equipment. In Columbiana County, three volunteer fire departments were recipients of this funding: East Palestine, Leetonia and Highlandtown.
