Thanksgiving roadway fatalities report

COLUMBUS – According to provisional statistics, 16 people were killed on Ohio’s roadways this Thanksgiving holiday. During the five-day reporting period, from Wednesday, November 23 at midnight through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 16 people were killed in 15 fatal crashes. In 2021, there were 14 fatal crashes in which 17 people were killed.

Of the 16 killed this year, two were pedestrians, 10 were not wearing a seat belt and six crashes involved impaired driving.

A Beatitudes Thanksgiving

The Beatitudes Belles set a beautiful Thanksgiving table for more than 35 and prepared an eat-in or take-out feast for some 150 diners on Tuesday, November 22. The free meal was open to all with an RSVP. 

The community center at 210 N. Main St. was filled with the delicious scent of turkey, gravy, dressing, etc., etc. Stacks of desserts were hidden in styrofoam containers. We can only imagine the pots and pans to be washed.

Board of Education will hold November 30 special meeting with executive session

The Board of Education of the Ada Expempted Villages Schools will hold a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, at the board room, 725 W. North Ave.

Board members are:

Steve Ramey
Ted Griffith

The Board will meet in a confidential executive session to consider: The appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual, unless the public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual requests a public hearing.

New faculty at Ohio Northern, part 1

The Icon recently reported on the Ada Town & Gown banquet, where new Ada community leaders were introduced. In collaboration with Ohio Northern's Office of Communication & Marketing, we are also introducing new faculty members. This is the first of several installments.

Dalia Abdelhamid is an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. She comes to the Raabe College from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, British Columbia, where she was a research scientist and chemistry instructor, having previously taught as a member of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Minia University in Egypt.

November 30 community meal at St. Mark Lutheran

St. Mark Lutheran Church will be serving it's Free Community Meal on Wednesday, November 30, between 5 and 6:30 p.m. (or until they run out). 

This month's menu is Pulled Pork, Cheesy Potatoes, Cole Slaw, Fruit, and Cookie.
