Medina event showcases Varsity Singers winning performance

The Ada High School Varsity Singers bring home a first place trophy in Mixed Division - Tier III from the Medina Midwest Showcase on February 18. Best female vocalist was awarded to Kiya Tabler and Jillian Alison won best Ada performer. Performances can be viewed HERE.

Mission Possible coffee trail leads to Ada's Buckeye East

Mission Possible, a nonprofit with schools in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, is hosting an event called the Mission Possible Coffee Trail. For $20 you can purchase a coffee trail card giving you access to a designated coffee item at 19 participating coffee shops, includig Buckeye East at 123 E. Buckeye Ave. in Ada.

Organizers explain, "The trail runs from March 15 - May 10, so you have 8 weeks to use your card, support their schools in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and experience some fantastic coffee shops along the way.

"Go to www.ourmissionispossible.org/coffee-trail to get your card today and help support education one cup at a time."

Officers' lifesaving efforts to be recognized at Ada Council meeting

Letter from Chief Alec Cooper, Ada Police Department:

On Tuesday February 21, 2023, the Ada Police Department will hold a special awards ceremony during the Ada Village Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal building to recognize the lifesaving efforts of two Ada police officers, as well as two public safety officers from Ohio Northern University.

St. Mark Lutheran community meal and Ash Wednesday service

St. Mark Lutheran will be holding it's monthly Free Community Meal on Wednesday, February 22, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. (organizers note that's "whenever we run out of food.") at the church on the corner of Lincoln and Johnson in Ada. 

The menu is fish, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, fruit and cookie. You may dine in, carry out or drive up for curbside service. 

The meal is free and open to the public. The 7:00 p.m. Ash Wednesday service is also free and opened to the public.

Michael C. Pratt was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force veteran

Michael C. Pratt, age 73, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at his residence.  

He was born on October 20, 1949 in Lima, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Goldie (Tackett) Vulgamore. On November 2, 1984, Michael married Carol Holbrook and she survives in Ada.

Michael was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a 1967 graduate of Piketon High School. Michael retired from Whirlpool of Findlay in 2008. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye’s fan.

AHS girls basketball ousted by Cards in sectionals; Sumner sets Ada career scoring record

The Ada HIgh School girls basketball team saw their season come to an end as they lost to New Bremen 45-32 in the Div. IV sectional finals Saturday night, February 18, at Lima Shawnee.
