Equitas Health fundraiser to be held March 25

Ohio Northern University’s annual drag experience, “A Rubi Affair,” will be held Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in McIntosh Center’s Ballroom. The funds raised will benefit Equitas Health in Lima, Ohio, which will use the funding for HIV/AIDS research and support for patients. Organizers invite you to "Make plans to join Open Doors and the Rubi Girls for a night filled with music, dancing, fun and more!"

The public event is free to attend, but special VIP tickets can be purchased for prime seating. VIP seating will cost $5. Tickets will be sold at a table located near the entrance to McIntosh Dining Hall March 20-24 from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

The comedic drag show will feature The Rubi Girls from Dayton, Ohio, who have been performing since the 1980s. Comprised of individuals whose day jobs range from graphic designer to IT director, the professional troupe’s enduring success is due in part to their ability to elicit audience and performer participation. ONU students will be performing, too, with a chance to win prizes. Judges’ scores and money raised from the audience will determine the top performers.

Open Doors, the LGBTQ+ student organization at ONU, has hosted “A Rubi Affair” annually since 2005. Shows typically draw hundreds, making it Open Doors’ largest event.
