McGuffey movie moved to Saturday (CANCELLED)

CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER

Family Outdoor Movie Night in McGuffey is Saturday, August 20.

  • The movie Home Team starts at 9:15 p.m.
  • 404 Courtright Street, McGuffey

You'll find the audience gathering on the grass behind the community center. Free popcorn and drinks will be served.

Please bring your own lawn chairs or blanket.

The event is promoted by McGuffey Memories Historical Society.

Harvest & Herb Festival vendor deadline

Ada's 36th annual Harvest & Herb Festival and Parade is fast approaching. Ada Area Chamber of Commerce director Lindsay Walden reports that over 100 booths have been sold with many new vendors to appear at the show.

Vendors are encouraged to sign up by September 2 so that organizers will have plenty of time to assign booth locations.

Goal kick simulator and beer sales added to 2022 football festival

The August 27 Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival is growing. Two new attractions were announced by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce this week:

  • A goal kick simulator will be provided by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This is the premiere event for this Hall of Fame feature.
  • A beer permit has been approved. Beer sales will take place at the Center on Central with Ada Lions Club volunteer servers.

The Saturday event has two main components: an official PPK punt, pass and kick competition at 1:00 p.m. at ONU's Dial-Roberson Stadium and the 4:30-10:00 p.m. Tailgate Party at the Ada Train Depot Park, 9 Central Ave.

September 3 "Love Ya!" walk for Patrick Archer

At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, a "Love Ya! Walk for Patrick" will be held at the War Memorial Park track to honor Ada resident Patrick Archer. Archer was killed November 3, 2021 in a workplace incident at the Lima Ford Engine Plant.

Walk organizers note, "Patrick's traumatic death devastated his family, friends, co-workers and shocked the community." The walk is to support the nonprofit organization United Support & Memorial for Workplace Fatalities (USMWF). The public is invited to join the walk, meal and to share stories.

Participants are encouraged to walk 15 laps--approximately 15 individuals are killed in U.S. workplaces each day.

Chamber members to meet at Buckeye East

The monthly Ada Area Chamber of Commerce membership meeting will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17. This month the meeting will be held at

Chamber director Lindsay Walden notes "There will also be several updates regarding the Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival, upcoming ribbon-cutting events, and more! If you are looking to get more involved in the community, this meeting is for you! We hope to see you there."

Reminder: Fabulous 5th choral celebration

Noteworthy Community Choir will celebrate 5 years as an organization by sharing music selections from each of their performance seasons at a Sunday concert in Harrod.

Tickets are $10 each and include a dessert and drink at intermission.
