Alzheimer's Support Group meets monthly in Bluffton

Do you know someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia?  Do you wish you had caring support or more information about the disease?  You are not alone.

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio provides a monthly support group for caregivers.

The group meets on the third Monday of each month, except December, from 3:30-4:30 pm. The group meets in the library at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

Co-led by Tricia Herrmann, RN and Emily Koogler, LSW, the focus is on mutual support, education and community resourcing. Call 419-358-1015 for more information and questions.

Spaghetti dinner-bowling benefit for Amelia Griffin Dec. 5

There will be a spaghetti dinner and bowling benefit for Amelia Griffin at Norada Lanes, 1182 SR 235, on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Dinner will be served from 2 to 5 p.m. Kids bowling will start at 3 p.m. Adult Scotch mixed doubles will begin at 6 p.m.

Dinner is $8. Bowling is $5 for children and $30 a couple.

Amelia is the daughter of Beau and Christina Griffin. Her brothers are Jude, 7, and Willie, 3. Four-year-old Amelia has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

29th annual Christmas around the Square Nov. 14 in Kenton

The 29th annual Christmas Around the Square Craft Fair takes place in Kenton on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hardin County Historic Courthouse in downtown Kenton.

Sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance, the Craft Fair features three floors filled with arts, crafts, and home party dealers. The Kenton Top 20 will perform holiday music at 9:30 a.m. Homemade food is provided by the Hardin County Homemakers.

Get ready for the 38th annual Ada Music Feast Saturday

It's a feast of music this weekend at Ada High School.

The 38th annual Ada Music Feast Show Choir Invitational Competition is Saturday, Nov. 7,  at Ada High School. 

This year’s program features talented young men and women from 14 visiting show choirs from Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana.  Ada Varsity Singers, under the direction of Abigail Glenn, vocal music director and Jonathan Lischak, director of instrumental and co-director, will also provide an exhibition performance as the host school for this day-long event.

2015 survivor's guide to winter challenge starts in November

The 2015 Survivor’s Guide to Winter Challenge is a free six week email challenge designed to help participants challenge your health, emotional wellbeing, and survival skills this season, according to Jami Dellifield of the Hardin County Extension Office. 

Those who sign up will receive two weekly e-communications from your local Ohio State University Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educator containing research based information.

A tracking log will be available for download to help participants document their progress, as well as access to supplemental information available on blogs and Facebook.  

Are you brave enough for a haunted hayride in Ada?

Anyone up for a haunted hayride?

The Ohio Northern University Law Student Bar Association will hold such an event on Saturday, Oct. 31, War Memorial Park, Ada.

The event is a fundraiser for the organizaton, according to Kathleen Plumer.
A kid friendly event is from 6 to 7 p.m.
Haunted event is from 7 to 10 p.m.

Admission is:
• Adults (above 18) $3
• Children (under 18) $2
