The Hardin County OSU Extension will begin offering Zumba fitness classes in November, according to Jami Dellifield, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator.

Classes are selected Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:50 to 5:30 p.m., in Simon Kenton School gym, 705 N. ida St., Kenton.

The cost is $15 per person and registration fee covers all classes listed.

Classes meet on the following schedule:       

• November: 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 28, 30

• December: 5,7,12,14,19,21

Breast cancer awareness on Oct. 22

During the ONU men’s soccer game on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. vs. Muskingum, the ONU team will be sell pink ONU soccer shirts.

The players will wear the shirts during pregame. Shirt prices are $20 for students and $25 for adults.

The team is accepting donations all week  as well as before the game and at halftime.

All proceeds from shirt sales and from donations will go to the Breast Cancer
Research Foundation in the name of Alex Paulino, wife of ONU Assistant Coach,
Cayleb Paulino who was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer.

Vancrest of Ada hopes that youngsters will add their new facility on their Halloween route on Thursday, Oct. 27.  Trick or treat time there is from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

"Our residents are very excited to enjoy the costumes and give the kids loads of candy," said Randy Cox, administrator.

Vancrest, which opened this year, is located at 600 W. North Ave. across from the Ada Schools.

Featuring preventive health screenings and community resources

The Hardin County Safety Council will hold the Hardin County Health and Wellness Fair in Partnership with OhioHealth Hardin Memorial Hospital, Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety and Hygiene, and Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance.  The Health and Wellness Fair will be held Thursday, Oct. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Hardin County Armory, 128 N. Main St.

The Fair is free and open to the public. Local health-related businesses will offer a wide range of free screenings, and health information. Register to win a $50 Chamber Gold Gift Certificate and other prizes.

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee is sponsoring a country-style breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 7 to 11 a.m., at the Alger Social Center.

Serving biscuits, sausage gravy, hash-browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and beverage. Suggested donation is $7. All-you-can-eat (on premises only). Carry out is available.

The Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will meet for dinner at the Black Augus on Main, Van Wert at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The program at 7:15 p.m. features Mike inniger of Van Wert who will show his Roadtrek motorhome and discuss his recent Roadtrek rally across Ohio.

The meeting is open to the public.
