Country-style breakfast Aug. 6 in Alger

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee will hold a country-style breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., Saturday,  Aug. 6, at the Alger Social Center, 210 N. Main St., Alger.

The menu includes biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and a beverage.

A suggested donation is $7. The breakfast is all-you-can-eat (premises only). Carry out is available. Call 419-679-8460 for free local delivery.

Hardin Dems kick off dinner July 30

Judge Randall Basinger, Putnam County Common Pleas Judge, running for the 17-county 3rd District Court of Appeals, is the featured speaker for the Hardin County Democrat’s annual Kick-Off dinner.

The dinner is Saturday, July 30, at 6 p.m. at the Goshen Grange Hall, 18977 County Road 120, corner of Hardin County Road 120 and Township Road 205 east of Kenton.

Judge Basinger has also served as an appellate judge assigned by the Supreme Court on the 11th and 8th District Courts of Appeals on approximately 200 cases.

It's a painting party where you can uncork your creativity in downtown Ada.

Wine and Design holds its next art class at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, at 220 N. Main St, Ada.

Darrel Seiler instructs this month's art work project step-by-step while you relax, sip and paint along, according to Amanda Morrison.

Mt. Blanchard Heritage Day Festival Aug. 20

The first-ever Heritage Day Festival takes place in Mt. Blanchard on Saturday, Aug. 20, beginning at 10 a.m. and lasting through fireworks that evening.  

The Beautification Committee, with help from village council, sponsors the event.

Ada's month for car show - July - VFW hosts Saturday show

The Ada VFW Post 9381 will expand its car show this year after a successful first year. This year’s show is Saturday afternoon, July 16, at the VFW Post, 2147 State Route 235, north of Ada.

Last year's event drew 40 cars and 15 motorcycles.

New this year will be a truck category.

Registration of $10 is from 2 to 4 p.m. Judging is from 4 to 6 p.m. and awards are presented at 6:30 p.m.

Trophies will be awarded for car, bike and truck categories, best of show, people's choice award, participant's award, mayor's choice award.
