Mt. Victory to host wine and chocolate walk June 14

The village of Mt. Victory, hosts a wine and chocolate walk from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 14.

Mt. Victory merchants will offer treats while its shops are open for the walk.

Three of local wineries will be on site pouring and selling bottles of wine (Bokes Creek Winery, Rose Acres, and Bear Vine Winery). 

New this year, visitors may purchase a VIP ticket (only 30 available) and get a one hour open air (weather permitting) paint and sip experience with Artist Marilyn Reed. 

In addition, The Plaza Inn Catering BBQ will provide live entertainment from various acoustic performers.

The 11th annual Ada War Memorial truck pulls is set for 7 p.m., Friday, June 7, at the Ada park. Gates open at 3 p.m. and registration starts at 5 p.m. A rain date is 6 p.m., Saturday, June 8.

The following classes will run:

Women for the Land - lunch and learn June 11

Women for the Land, will hold a Lunch and Learn on Tuesday, June 11, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at OSU Spark Lab, Kenton.  

The program is coordinated by representatives from American Farmland Trust, USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service, Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District, Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District and Ag Credit.

The topic will be Field Tile and Drainage with presentation and discussion of agricultural drainage and the benefits of field tile. Please RSVP by Friday, June 7, by calling Hardin SWCD at 419-673-7238, ext. 3.  The cost for lunch is $5.

Hancock museum hosts Victorian tea June 22

The Hancock Historical Museum will host a Victorian Tea on the front porch of the historic Hull-Flater House on Saturday, June 22, from 11a.m. t 1 p.m. 

The event is for children ages 6-12 with an accompanying adult. The tea will highlight the time period of American Girl, Samantha. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite doll and come dressed for the occasion. Participants will enjoy tea and treats served by the Victorian Ladies, while learning about proper etiquette for a Victorian tea party. And, 19th century lawn games and crafts will follow the tea.

Get a (Better) Job workshop on Saturdays at Alger Public Library

Alger Public Library hosts Get a (Better) Job workshops, starting Saturday, June 8, from 8 - 10 a.m. These workshops will be held the second Saturday of every month.

These workshop willl cover job searching, applications and resumes, and mock interviews. They are led by Janie Risner, recruiter and Jane Wilcox, retired HR manager.

Scientific comedic show comes to Alger Public Library June 6

The Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular Comedy Show will be Thursday, June 6 from 3 - 4 p.m. at the Alger Public Library.

According to the show's website, "take a dash of science, a blob of humor, throw in a hillbilly, and what do you get? You get the explosive good time of the Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular Comedy Show!" 

This show combines comedy with basic science concepts for a fun, educational experience. As part of the show, the audience will develop hypotheses for each experiment.  

This comedy event is meant for the whole family. The library is located at W. 100 W. Wagner St., Alger.
