Ada Historical Society meets Monday

The Ada Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting, Monday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the Ada Public Library, 320 N. Main St., Ada.

 

Icon editor speaker at Bluffton library tea

Subject is small-town authors and writers

Fred Steiner, Icon editor, is the featured speaker at the Thursday, April 25, spring tea sponsored by the Friends of the Bluffton Library.

The tea is at 5:45 p.m. and tickets are $12 each and must  be purchased in advance. The tea is at the library, 145 S. Main St., Bluffton, where tickets are available.

The speaker is author of several Bluffton-related books. The most recent is “The Bluffton We Never Knew: Photos from 1861 to 1911,” “Bluffton: A Great Place To Miss,” which include stories from 1900 to 1975, and “A Century of Pirates,” a sports history of Bluffton High School covering 1900 to 2000.

St. Rita’s hosts National Healthcare decision day event

As part of National Healthcare Decisions Day on Tuesday, April 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 1130 a.m. Mercy Health – St. Rita’s will be hosting an open house at St. Rita’s Health Resource Center. The Health Resource Center is located in the main lobby across from Starbucks. 

National Healthcare Decisions Day educates and empowers the public and healthcare providers to take part in important advance care planning. The day focuses on ensuring that the information, opportunities, and access needed to document health care decisions are available to all.

It's Young Frankenstein on The Freed Center stage

ONU Department of Theatre Arts production April 11-14

The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre Arts will present the musical comedy “Young Frankenstein” from Thursday through Sunday, April 11 through April 14 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 11,  April 12 and April 13, with 2 p.m. matinee performances on April 13 and April 14. The performance is being underwritten by Quest Federal Credit Union.

“Young Frankenstein” is based on the 1974 Mel Brooks comedy film, which is an affectionate parody of the classic 1930s horror film.

Easter egg hunt in Ada on Sunday

At the Ada War Memorial Park, 12:30 p.m

Calling all Easter egg hunters.

Ohio Northern University sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, April 14, near the playground at the Ada War Memorial Park.

"The event is open to youth ages 3 to 12," said Cortney Kiser of the event planning committee. "Bring your families out to enjoy the hunt, meet the Easter bunny and potentially win a special Easter raffle basket."

 

State Rep Cross will be in Ada May 17

State Representative Jon Cross (R-Kenton)  announced his district office schedule to meet with constituents of Hancock, Hardin and (part of) Logan counties that make up the 83rd Ohio House district.

Locally, Rep. Cross will host district office hours each month at the main district libraries in Findlay, Kenton and Ada.

“It’s very important to stay connected to our communities and to the people of the 83rd district. I want to thank our libraries for allowing me to host office hours to meet with and assist constituents with state needs and discuss public policy,” he said.
