Virtual west central Ohio prom Saturday

DJLimaOhio.com.com has teamed up with Ohio Theatre and Woof Boom Lima radio stations to help take the sting out of the school year shut down for area high school juniors and seniors. 

“A Night to Remember,” a virtual online prom for West Central Ohio, is Saturday, May 9, from 8-11 p.m.

Fun 107.1 and DJLimaOhio.com’s Phil Austin hosts the event from the Ohio Theatre with DJ SNKRZ on the turntables. 

There’s just one catch: they’ll be the only ones there.

There will be a live video stream, and the event will be held just like any other prom, with lights, fog and lasers. 

Food distribution May 7 at county fairgrounds

The next West Ohio Food Bank food distribution is from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, May 7, at the Hardin County Fairgrounds, 14134 Letson Ave., Kenton. The distribution is sponsored by the food bank and United Way of Hardin County.

Bluffton farmers market opens Saturday

New safety rules in effect

The Bluffton Farmers Market will open on Saturday, May 2, with new safety guidelines. Vendors, customers and market management will work together to limit the potential transmission of the coronavirus. Some 12-14 vendors are expected on opening day.

"The Bluffton Farmers Market will be different in 2020. We will have the same great products and vendors, but we all need to modify our behavior to protect ourselves and each other from the risk of serious illness," explains Paula Scott, CEO of the chamber. "We have many new safety guidelines."

Walk with a Doc goes virtual on May 4

Due to COVID-19, Walk with a Doc has gone virtual, according to Tori Kirian, 4-H/FCS program assistant for the Hardin County OSU Extension Office.

Join the Hardin County OSU Extension and Ohio Health via Zoom on Monday, May 4, at noon. 

•. Caleb Halsey, PT, DPT, will be discussing Lifestyle Medicine, which includes activity, diet, smoking cessation, and body composition.

• Corey Wirbel, PTA will discuss local and short trip activities to do with kids and family. We ask that you register at go.osu.edu/hardinwwad prior to the event.

Bluffton Farmers Market developing a "novel" idea for opening on May 2

Under consideration: A drive through market where you place an order by phone and pick up packages at the curb

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - The Bluffton Farmers Market has developed a novel way to open despite the Novel Coronavirus' affect on local businesses.

According to Greg Probst, market manager, "We plan to open the market as scheduled on Saturday, May 2." 

However, it won't be business as usual. Probst is considering a drive through market where you place an order by phone and pick up packages at the curb.

In other chamber-related news, the 49th annual arts and crafts festival has been cancelled and vendors will receive refunds.

No Ada HS alumni banquet this year

Was originally set for early June

There will be no alumni banquet for the Ada High School alumni association, according to Kim Bowen, co-president of the organization.

"We have made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 alumni banquet original planned for June 6, due to the current situation and the safety of our alumni," said Bowen.
