Ohio Northern University to present ‘Reefer Madness’

 

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “Reefer Madness” in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre from Thursday, Oct. 18, to Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at 2 p.m.

Inspired by the original 1936 film of the same name, this raucous musical comedy takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence.

I’ve been there.  We’ve probably all been there at one time or another.  You work and study and work and study and go, go, go, until you you crash.  Hitting that wall can be devastating–to your health, your spirit, and your mental capacities.  For me, the wall usually results in my getting sick.  A couple of days in bed, feeling sorry for myself, and I’m back into the daily grind–working, studying, working, studying, go, go, go…

Oscar Mifsud Outstanding Service Award recipient

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration honored Oscar J. Mifsud with an Outstanding Service Award on Saturday, Oct. 6.

The award, given annually at Homecoming, honors individuals who have provided sustained and outstanding service to, and whose contributions have positively impacted, the College of Business Administration and Ohio Northern. This is the fourth year that an Outstanding Service Award has been presented by the college.

Beatrice "Bee" Lansing retired from Triplett Corporation, Bluffton

Beatrice A. "Bee" Lansing, 92, died at 8:20 a.m. Oct. 10, 2012, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Newark to Lorenzo Dell and Lorah Alice Dunn Glover, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 21, 1940, she married Floyd Franklin Lansing, who died Dec. 24, 1992.

Mrs. Lansing retired in 1970 as a supervisor from Triplett Electric Corp. after 17 years. She was a member of Ada Full Gospel Church. She lived most of her life in Ada. She was a member of Hix'n Chix Square Dance Club, Maysville. She had been owner of Northland Mobile Home Court, Ada.

Veterans' breakfast at Ada cafeteria on Nov. 12

The Ada School District is sponsoring a veterans' breakfast on Monday, Nov. 12, at 8 a.m. in the school cafeteria. The school invites all veterans and their families, as well as active duty service personnel who live, work or worship within the boundaries of the Ada Exempted
Village Schools to attend. Widows or widowers of veterans are also encouraged to attend.
