2024 Hardin County Agriculture Hall of Fame honorees announced

HARDIN COUNTY __ The Hardin County Agriculture Hall of Fame committee has announced inductees for 2024. The organization will honor Charles A. Dietz, Sr. (posthumously), Jack McBride, Ken (posthumously) and Betty McCullough and John “Joe” Saltzman (posthumously). 

Obituary for Jean I. Mason

Jean I. Mason, age 84, of Harrod, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Lima Memorial Health System.  

Hardin Co. Master Gardener volunteers celebrated at Ohio conference

KENTON __Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteers gathered on Thursday, October 24 for a potluck meal and to watch the 2024 State Master Gardener Volunteers Conference award ceremony via Zoom. Five awards were awarded to the Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteers. Awards achieved included: 

• Mark Badertscher- Outstanding Master Gardener Volunteer Staff Coordinator 

• Gene James- Friend of the Master Gardener Volunteers 

• Outstanding Project in Community Service - Small County for 2024 Spring Program "Something Old,  New, Tried and True", coordinated by by Kim Thomas 

• Platinum Ohio State University Extension Standards for Excellence 

• Jill Simmons- Top 10 Nominee for Master Gardener Volunteer of the Year 

The Extension Office shared, "Congratulations to all of the Hardin County award winners. If you are interested in becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer in Hardin County, call the Ohio State University Extension Office in  Hardin County at 419-674-2297."

Greavu sculptures installed at Ohio Northern University pond

ADA __ On Tuesday, October 22, four sculptures by former ONU art professor and current Bluffton resident Judith Greavu were dedicated in a new installation at a pond near Dial-Roberson Stadium.

Kimberly Ellen Page worked for SAFY of Columbus

Kimberly Ellen Page, 64, of Huntsville, Ohio went home to the Lord on Thursday October 24, 2024 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She was born December 1,1959 in Athens, Ohio to Wayne and Barbara Henry. 

Idelia Schaad worked for Allen East School

Idelia P. (Barnhart) Schaad, age 98, of Harrod, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
