Ada girls cross country season

Teammates Jilli Hazelton and Elsie Allen have cheered each other on this fall in cross country competitions representing Ada High School. The OHSAA District meet will take place at Columbus Grove on Oct. 23.

Lewis R. "Randy" Frank was a U.S. Marine

Lewis R. "Randy" Frank, age 71, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his home, totally surrounded by his family. He was born in Lima, Ohio to the late Russell and Esther (Boyd) Frank. Randy married his high school sweetheart, Mary Stashwick, and they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in January of this year.

He was a devoted father to Elizabeth Williams and Edward (Akendita) Frank. He was proud of his six grandsons: Trace (Haylee) Williams, Gabriel (Jasmine) Williams, Max Williams and Andrew, Dylan and Tucker Frank. He also had a special granddaughter, Brianna Courtney. His nieces, Michelle Gooding and Kelly Hade lived with him for ten years.

If  you did not file your Ada Village income tax return(s) for the years 2017, 2018 or 2019, you may receive a letter from the Regional Income Tax Authority (RITA).

To correct this please go to RITA'S website at: www.ritaohio.com to complete your return. If you would rather mail your return(s) please mail to: Regional Income Tax Agency, PO BOX 470538, Broadview Heights, OH 44147-0538.

Information provided by candidates for Ada board of education

At the October 13 Ada school board candidate forum for the November 2 General Election, four of six candidates provided materials about their candidacy: Adam Baumgartner, Denise D'Arca, Margaret (Peg) Gordon and Ted Griffith. 

Also running for board membership are Chase Archer and Ron Fleming. The ballot can be viewed at the Hardin County Board of Elections website.

Ada hosts rival Mustangs in finale October 22

Ada entertains backyard arch-rival Allen East Friday, October 22, in the season finale for the Bulldogs. 

AE (6-3, 4-2 NWC) lost at Leipsic in week nine, 26-14. The Mustangs are second in the Div. VI, Region 24 computer rankings, behind only unbeaten Mechanicsburg.

"Allen East is a very talented and well-coached team," said Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We will have to be on top of our game in order to slow them down.

"Offensively, we will need to take care of the football and execute well so that we can keep their explosive offense (32.3 ppg) off of the field.

Gloria Rock was a homemaker

Gloria J. Rock, age 76, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, with her husband by her side.

She was born on April 30, 1945 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Matthew Joseph “Richard” and Thelma (Lovely) Dyer.  On May 18, 1963 Gloria married the love of her life, Robert E. Rock, Sr. and he survives in Alger.

Gloria was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. Also surviving are her two daughters: Ronda (John) Wyomic of Ada and Roberta (Frank) Karfit; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Dyer of Michigan; and three sisters: Rachel Boutwell of Kenton, Rebekka (Frank) Grizzle of Florida and Wonnie Dyer of Findlay.
