April 17th: End of 4th Interim grading period

Swimmers on your mark: Ada swim team sign-ups April 24 and May 5

Sign-ups for the Ada summer swim team will be held Thursday, April 24, and Monday, May 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ada Visiting Nurses, 4392 State Route 235, Ada.

Swimmers from ages 5 to 18 are invited. The cost is $50 per child, with a $5 credit for each additional family member. This cost includes one ad per family in the championship heat sheet.

A $10 late fee will be assessed for anyone registering after May 30. Morning practices are held Monday through Friday at the Ada pool beginning as soon as school is out, hopefully May 26.

The first meet will be June 12 and swim championships this year are July 11 and 12 at Kenton.

Andy Steingass: "The ceramics tradition grounds me"

“It’s meditative,” says Andrew Steingass about working at the potter’s wheel. Andrew (Andy) recalls seeing other art students at Ada High with clay on their jeans and clothes.

“Why would they want that clay all over them?” was Andy’s thought back then. Andy did take art classes in high school, drawing and painting, but didn’t take ceramics class. It was during an art appreciation course at Ohio Northern University that Andy began to feel the pull of the wheel.

Hardin County Hootenannies 4-H Club organnizes

The first meeting of the Hardin County Hootenannies was held at the Ag Credit meeting room.  We want to thank Ag Credit for this opportunity to meet in such a nice place.

The meeting was called to order by president Laura Spradlin.  Advisor Ray Davis asked if everyone saw the newspaper article that told about changes in the goat show and some other rules for the fair.

ONU receives accolades from International Technology and Engineering Educators Association

The Ohio Northern University Department of Technological Studies received numerous honors at the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) conference in Orlando, Fla., March 27-29.

Ohio Northern students Ben Freer, a sophomore technology education major from Ashland, Ohio, and Brandon Ike, a sophomore technology education major from Sidney, Ohio, were undergraduate scholarship co-winners of the Foundation for Technology and Engineering Educators award. The two will receive $500, respectively.
