The Ohio Northern University Department of Technological Studies received numerous honors at the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) conference in Orlando, Fla., March 27-29.
Ohio Northern students Ben Freer, a sophomore technology education major from Ashland, Ohio, and Brandon Ike, a sophomore technology education major from Sidney, Ohio, were undergraduate scholarship co-winners of the Foundation for Technology and Engineering Educators award. The two will receive $500, respectively.
Levi Brown, a 2013 ONU technology education graduate, was recognized with the Pitsco/Hearlihy/FTEE Grant for his work with the development of a STEM program at Riverdale High School. Brown will receive funds for continued support in developing STEM resources at the school.
David Rouch, ONU professor of technological studies, was recognized at one of the general sessions for his years of service on the ITEEA board of directors as the ITEEA Region 2 director. Region 2 includes the states of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Michigan, and Illinois, and the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
Also at the conference, the Epsilon Pi Tau (EPT) honorary awarded ONU’s Gamma Lambda Chapter the Region 3 Chapter of the Year. This marks the seventh time in the last 11 years that ONU has received this prestigious honor. Individually, Sheena Marston, a 2013 ONU construction management graduate, won the student essay award and the undergraduate student research award.
