Classroom on the Broom: ONU professor to teach course on witches in fiction and film

Successful alewives from the Middle Ages, who used funnels with top vents (which today’s costume witch hats resemble) and cauldrons to make their product, were sometimes accused of witchcraft by less profitable male brewers as an underhanded attempt to vie for customers. Today, witchcraft accusations still abound—albeit in the American political arena.

Ada, Ohio polling places for November 2 General Election

For the November 2 General Election, Ada North and Ada South precinct polling places are located at Ada Community Health Professionals Building, 1200 S Main St., Ada, OH 45810.

Other voting opportunities include:

Military & Overseas Absentee Voting: Begins September 17 (46 Days Before Election Day)

Early In-Person Voting: Begins October 5 and includes the Saturday, Sunday and the Monday before Election Day

Absentee Voting By Mail: Begins October 5 (28 Days Before Election Day)

Election Day: November 2 (Polls Open 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.)

Dunkirk water project funding announced

This week State of Ohio announced a first round of water infrastructure grants with $93 million going to 54 projects in 60 Ohio counties. 

This includes a $342,000 grant to replace existing floating aerators at the Dunkirk's wastewater treatment plant with a new aeration system that will provide a complete aeration and mixing process during the wastewater treatment process. This project will benefit 714 people.

Nov. 6 ONU Documentary Screening at Ada Theatre

The documentary film “Heart of an Ideal” celebrating the 150-year history of Ohio Northern University will be shown at the Ada Theatre, 215 S Main St, at noon on Saturday, November 6. Tickets for the screening are free and can be requested at nextfuturefilms.com https://www.nextfuturefilms.com/ or e-mail [email protected].

The film premiered at the Ada Theatre during ONU’s Homecoming Weekend in October. The film’s producers requested an ‘encore screening’ to give the local community another chance to view the historical film.
