Women's tennis posts victories over Heidelberg and Indiana Tech

The Ohio Northern women's tennis topped OAC foe Heidelberg 9-0 and NAIA opponent Indiana Tech 8-1 on Tuesday at the University Courts.

The Polar Bears improve to 18-4 overall and the win over the Student Princes moves them to 4-0 in the OAC. Heidelberg falls to 2-8, 1-3 and Indiana Tech is now 3-9.

Against Heidelberg, juniors Lauren Rife and Michelle Tuma, sophomore Kristin Cellentani and freshman Christina Corbean and Rachael Miller all won twice to pace Northern.

Cellentani and Rife teamed up to win No. 2 doubles by an 8-1 margin.

Rife also won at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Cellentani won at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.

ONU’s College of Law Dean’s Lecture to focus on constitutional interpretation and policymaking

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will present the 2013 Dean’s Lecture on Friday, April 26, at 4:20 p.m. in the Small Moot Court Room.

The program will feature a presentation by Dr. Mark Miller, director of the Law and Society Program and professor of political science at Clark University, called “Constitutional Interpretation and Policymaking: Courts, the President, and Congress in Dialogue.”

ONU’s Gospel Ensemble schedules spring performance

Ohio Northern University’s Gospel Ensemble, with special guests Chris Byrd and the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church Choir of Lima, will celebrate its 26th anniversary with a concert in the ONU McIntosh Center Ballroom on Sunday, April 21, at 6 p.m.

Byrd, who serves as minister of music at Worship Center Church in Toledo, Ohio, has traveled nationally and internationally preaching the gospel and ministering in music.

Apollo superintendent panelist at the Ohio Jobs and Workforce Development Summit

Apollo Career Center Superintendent Judy Wells is making sure Lima will be front and center this Friday, April 12, when she travels to Columbus, Ohio for The Ohio Jobs and Workforce Development Summit.

Wells will speak about workforce development in our region and how Apollo Career Center and career technical education has been responsive to industry needs; forging innovative partnerships with business and industry.

Children's author and illustrator visits Ada elementary students on Thursday

Right to Read Week is always a popular week at Ada Elementary. This year's special week has a visit from a special children's author and illustrator, Diane deGroat. She will visit with elementary students on Thursday, April 11.

She has illustrated over 120 books for other authors, and painted almost 200 book jackets, and written 21 books that she's also illustrated.

One of her popular characters is Gilbert, a first grader (see book illustration at the top of the home page).
