SPENCERVILLE – The Ada High School track and field teams competed at the annual eight-team Spencerville Bearcat Relays Thursday, April 10.
The Ada boys finished fifth, while the Bulldog girls came in sixth.
Columbus Grove won the boys team title with 119 points, followed by Ft. Loramie (68) and Spencerville (67).
Pandora-Gilboa came in fourth with 57 points. The Ada boys tied New Bremen for fifth with 48 points. Perry nudged out Delphos St. John’s by a half point for seventh place, 33.5-33.
SPENCERVILLE __ The visiting Ada High School softball team shut out former NWC rival Spencerville 10-0 with a run-rule shortened no-hitter on a cold Thursday evening, April 10.
Ada senior ace Jenna Bassitt fired a five-inning no-hitter to earn her seventh win of the season. She struck out eight Bearcats to record the win.
The Bulldogs scored seven runs in the second and third innings, and rolled to their fourth straight victory.
“It was nice to get another win and play solid defense,” said fourth-year Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt.
In observance of Safe Digging Month, Common Ground Alliance (CGA) – the national association dedicated to protecting underground utility lines, people who dig near them, and their communities – recently announced results from a recent national survey which found 27.2 million Americans planning digging projects in the next year will not contact their local 811, putting themselves and their communities at risk of utility service disruptions, costly fines and repairs, and even serious injury or death.
SPENCERVILLE __ The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost 10-1 at former Northwest Conference foe Spencerville on a chilly Thursday evening, April 10.
The Bearcats broke open a close 3-1 game with seven runs in the sixth inning to seal the verdict.
Ada’s overall record dropped to 2-4 after the loss. The hosts improved to 2-3 with the victory.
The Bulldogs led 1-0 after the first inning. Senior leadoff hitter Levi Green singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Brody Rister.
The Bearcats took the lead with three runs in the home third.
