Ada homicide investigation underway

Apparent knife fight at 345 West Montford • Dead at the scene was Rodney Slechter of Lima

This story was updated at 9:23 a.m. - Ada police are involved in a homicide investigation this morning.

On Monday, Feb. 1, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Ada Police officers were called to 345 W. Montford in reference to a disturbance involving a knife. 

Upon officer’s arrival they discovered a middle-aged male had been stabbed by another male subject who was still in the house trailer.

Officers rendered first aid to the victim of the stabbing who succumbed to his wound at that location. 

Ada school closed today - goes to remote learning

Teachers will post all work on Google Classrooms by 10:30 a.m.

Ada schools are closed today due to the weather, however today is a remote learning day.

The announcement was made on Ohio Alerts at 7:36 a.m. Originally, a two-hour delay was announced, which became the remote learning day.

Teachers will post all work on Google Classrooms for students by 10:30 a.m.

Ada girls 3rd at league swim meet, boys 4th

Bulldogs Cole, Oldfield take 1sts

NORTH ROBINSON - The Ada swim teams competed at the eight-team North Central Ohio Swim League championship meet Saturday at the William Ferrell Natatorium. 

Meet host North Robinson-Colonel Crawford swept to the boys, girls and combined team league championships. CC beat second-place Upper Sandusky in the boys standings (316.5-284) and girls standings (365-209.5), as well as in the combined scores (681.5-493.5).

The Lady Bulldog swimmers finished a strong third with 136 points. Meanwhile, the fourth-place Bulldog boys tallied 61.5 points.

Ada finished a solid fourth in the combined points standings with 197.5.

Ada bundles up

Well, it took long enough. Old Man Winter chose the final weekend of January to make his appearance in Ada. Mana Hashimoto, Icon intern, shares these snow photos of campus from Sunday.
