Ada congregations observe Ash Wednesday

Signals the beginning of the season of Lent

The season of Lent in the Christian year is observed by several area congregations with Ash Wednesday services on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
Masses will be at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. 

St. Mark Lutheran Church
St. Mark Lutheran Church has been invited to share Ash Wednesday services with Zion Lutheran Church, 101 E Main St. LaFayette, at 7 p.m.

Chris Cottrell was retired from INEOS Corp.

Christopher Jay “Chris” Cottrell, 67, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at 4:36 a.m. at his residence in Ada.

He was born on June 3, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, to the late David W. Cottrell and Dorothy G. (Winks) Cottrell.  Christopher married Miriam R. Heyneman and she survives in Ada.

Chris retired from INEOS Corp, where he worked as a general operator. He was a member of the Lima Baptist Temple.   

Also surviving is his daughter, Stacy (Boyd) Geedey of Ada; three grandchildren: Haley (Seth) Sheriff, Lindsay Crouse and Michael Crouse; a great grandson, Zayne; a brother, David (Amy) Cottrell of Cridersville; and a sister, Victoria (John) Czysz of Tucson, Arizona.

Betty High retired from Goodyear

Elizabeth J. “Betty” High, 85, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at 2 a.m., surrounded by her family.

She was born on Oct. 31, 1935, in Deshler, Ohio, to the late Fredrick and Gertrude (Dibling) Britenriker. On Jan. 12, 1957 Betty married Clyde C. High and he preceded her in death on March 27, 2006.

Betty retired from Goodyear where she worked as a receptionist. She previously sold Avon and worked at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed doing family history. Betty loved taking care of her grandchildren.
